Rex Mathews Obituary
Born on April 2, 1933, on August 31, 2008, he passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Laura Jane Mathews, daughters Shirley, Cindy, and Maurine, sons George (known as Bill), and foster son George Mecum. He had thirteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, brothers Paul and Reggie, and sisters Orpha, Letha, Linda, and Sandra. He was preceded in death by his oldest son Allen, great-grandchild Shallina, his father and mother Henry and Nina Mathews, brothers Terry, George and Julius, and sisters Wanda and Ila. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to many. He will be remembered for his great sense of humor and always helping others. He will be missed by his family and friends but remain in our hearts forever. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be on Sept. 26 from 7:00-10:00 p.m. at the American Legion Hall, 6700 8th street, Rio Linda, Calif, 95673.
