Sergio Brida Obituary

Sergio "Frank" Brida
September 14, 1940 - June 18, 2022
Sacramento, California - Sergio Franco Brida "Frank", beloved father, grandfather, and mentor, passed away peacefully on June 18, 2022, at the age of 81 at his home in Sacramento, CA. He is survived by his sons, Greg and Chris; his grandchildren, Giancarlo and Giuliana; and his siblings Amelia Puccinelli, Franca Lingren, and Ines Brida. He is preceded in death by his father and mother, Dario and Paola Brida, and his brother Celso Brida.
In 1959 at the age of eighteen, Sergio traveled to the United States to start a new life with his family, seeking the American dream that so many immigrants had done before him. An entrepreneur at heart, Sergio took it upon himself do everything in his power to support his family through hard work and immersing himself in our educational system. Early on, Sergio owned and operated the Lucky Café and Shakey's Pizza in Sacramento. Later he opened Vince's restaurant in West Sacramento. In 1965, Sergio purchased Luigi's Pizza on Stockton Boulevard with his father where it immediately became an employment hub for his family. Not only was Luigi's special to Sergio and his family, but it became a well-known Sacramento institution. By 1979, Sergio purchased the Italian supermarket and specialty store Quality Market located at 51st Street and Folsom Boulevard. This purchase once again expanded on his knowledge of business and continued the legacy of employment for his family. During this time, Sergio's interest evolved into finance and real estate, becoming a successful investor, which he continued to be involved with until his death.
Sergio had an expansive interest and knowledge of world history and had a passion for the arts. He was not a huge sports fan but did love Italy's team Azzurri. Sergio always focused his time and attention to his children and then later even more to his grandchildren. Sergio was always the first to help a family member or friend in need with no questions asked nor gratitude expected. He will always be remembered for his kind heart and generosity that has left an amazing legacy for future generations to follow and admire.
The Brida family would like to take this opportunity to thank Mike Talani and his staff at River's Edge for their loving care. Thank you to Sergio's nurse Julie with American River Hospice Services for keeping him comfortable during his final weeks. Sergio was deeply touched and grateful for all those who stopped by to visit him.
The rosary and funeral mass will take place on July 22, 2022, at 10am and 11am respectively at St. Mary's Church located at 1333 58th Street in Sacramento with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers or gifts, the Brida Family is asking that you donate to Saint Francis High School's annual summer immersion trip to Italy, or Happy Tails Pet Sanctuary in Sergio's name. Arrangements entrusted to W.F. Gormley & Sons.
