I am so sorry I missed Steve's memorial. When his name was announced during the memorium portion of the Elly's this year, I cried. Steve was a theater friend of mine and one of the most genuine and caring people I've ever met. He had such a wonderful sense of humor and had great wisdom. He had great passion for life, which was very contagious. He once gave me a copy of The Prophet that I still have in my library. A treasured gift to this day.
Rest in peace, dear one. You are and will be missed.

On Sunday, November 26 one of the brightest lights in Sacramento theatre went dark when the luminous Stephen Vargo took his final bow. That light will once again shine as those who loved him gather to celebrate his kaleidoscope life journey.

Taking place at the new home of B Street Theatre, The Sofia, located at 2700 Capitol Ave in Sacramento.

Stephen was one in a million and the mold was truly broken when he was created. To be able to gather his gracious family, close and loyal friends, fellow actors and creators and his many hardworking coworkers is truly an event that Stephen would adore...and want to plan and direct. We will do our best to make him proud. Join us to give this genius of a man a wonderful and thoughtful final curtain call.

Please invite those who knew Stephen as you will have contacts that the organizers may not. Stephen spent many years uplifting the local Theatre and Indie Movie scene, elevating his fellow actors and creators to excel to their highest levels.

In the mid-1990s, Steve helped me to print out my first, and only, musical at Kinkos. He celebrated with me every time a new draft was completed. The generosity of his spirit will live in my memory, with gratitude, always.

I worked with Steve at Hewlett Packard in the late 80's. He threw a going away party for me when I moved to Colorado. One of the nicest guy's I have had the pleasure of knowing. Steve you will be truely missed.

Stephen was a dear man. We were in several acting classes together many years ago and every time we would run into each other, we would pick up the conversation as if it were yesterday. His obvious love for acting made him a delight to perform with on stage and I count him as my most intense, and fun, scene partner. The world was kinder with Stephen here.

Stephen was my Uncle Steve. I love him very much and already miss him terribly. He was always very supportive of me as well as my fiancé Travis who is a musician. He loved life and was multi-faceted.

I was surprised and very sad to hear about Steve's passing. I lost touch with him about 10 years ago. We were roommates in late 1990s and early 2000's. I really enjoyed hanging out with him and his friends for about 10 years. He was so much fun. He was a good man. A big loss for those of us who knew him.

I had the privilege of having Steve as a student, of directing him in several productions and acting with him in several shows. More importantly, I had the honor of calling him friend. He was full of charm, whimsy, humor and kindness. He will be greatly missed by many, myself included.

I was fortunate to call Stephen my friend for nearly 25 years. I loved him dearly. He was special. A truly amazing person who has touched the lives of so many with his friendship, talent and humor. They truly did break the mold when Stephen was created. I will miss him every day and I will keep his memory close to my heart. I will raise a shot glass in his honor as often as possible. My heart aches. I love you so much, Stephen. Thank you to Elizabeth and Marj for allowing Greg and I to spend some time with him on his final day on earth. Stephen has left a legacy of living life to the fullest that I hope to come close to achieving. Always in my heart. Sara Hanson
