Ronald Freeland Obituary

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - Ronald Lloyd Freeland went to be with our Lord on Wednesday (April 24, 2024). He was 74.

He was born July 10, 1949, in Salamanca, N.Y., to Lloyd and Charlotte Freeland.

Ron graduated from West Virginia University in 1971 with a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration. Ron resided in Ottsville, Pa., where he retired from American Baptist Church USA as an accountant until he moved to Myrtle Beach to retire and play golf.

Anyone who knew Ron knew that his first love was golf. His laugh was infectious to the point where you stopped laughing at the joke and started laughing at his laugh. Ron also loved line dancing until the sun came up, reading about U.S. history and all genres of music. He had a witty sense of humor that everyone adored and showed strength in his life's ups and downs. Ron had a heart of gold, was the rock for his family and loved his family with everything he had.

Ron is survived by his wife, Carole Zaraco-Freeland, who resides in Myrtle Beach; two daughters, Nicole (Ronney) Brown of Summit Point, W.V., and Amanda (Frank) Ruffino of Kintnersville, Pa.; three grandchildren, Zachary Dimmick of Summit Point and Sophia and Liliana Ruffino of Kintnersville; three brothers, William Freeland of Havre de Grace, Md., Robert Freeland of Batavia, Ill., and David (Andrea) Freeland of Myrtle Beach; a sister, Carol (Terry) Andrews of LaVale, Md.; and several nieces and nephews.

Ron is preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Charlotte Freeland.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks contributions to be made to the American Cancer Society or Tidelands Hospice of Myrtle Beach.
