Edward Silva Obituary

Gonzales, CA- Edward Silva Jr., 81, of Gonzales, passed away on November 26, 2024, at his home surrounded by loved ones. He was born on January 4, 1943, in Salinas, CA, to the late Edward Silva Sr. and Dorothy Phillips.

Edward was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and a cherished member of the community. Known for his generosity, kindness, and magnetic charm, Edward was a man who could light up any room. His charisma left a lasting impression on everyone he met, it was impossible not to love him. A true legend in the Salinas Valley, Edward's impact on the community was immeasurable. He was especially proud to be a grandfather, finding immense joy in watching his grandchildren grow and thrive. A visionary and hard worker, Edward built an empire from the ground up, driven by a dream and an unwavering work ethic. His legacy is one of resilience, determination, and a deep love for his family. Edward's presence will be sorely missed, but his memory will forever live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Evelina; his children, Theresa (Joe) Amaral and John (Susan) Silva; grandchildren Leslie Amaral, Ashley (Danny) Foldes, Dominic Silva, Sebastian Silva, Sophia Silva, Brandon (Julissa) Silva, Scott (Janae) Silva, Tamara (Adam) Tillery; eight great-grandchildren; and his siblings Janet (Marvin-deceased) Lewis and Yvonne (David) Morisoli.

He is also survived by Manuel Amaral, who was like a son to him. Manuel's devotion, kindness, and integrity played a pivotal role in Edward's life.

He was predeceased in death by his parents Edward Silva Sr., Dorothy Phillips, and his son Timothy Silva.

Celebration of Life will be on January 25, 2025 at The Amaral Barn in Salinas, CA on Parker Road from 12pm - 4pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, St. Theodore's Church in Gonzales, CA, or St. Joseph's Church in Spreckels, CA, in memory of Edward Silva Jr.

The family would like to thank Gabriela Pimentel, for being an extraordinary caregiver. Her kindness and compassion were truly unmatched. Through her constant dedication, she made the final years of Edward Silva's life peaceful and effortless, providing him with comfort, support and love when it was needed most. Thank you, Gabriela and Diana, for everything you did-your care meant the world to us.

Arrangements are being handled by Alta Vista Mortuary in Salinas, CA.

Very sorry to learn of this news. He always had something charming and witty to say that would brighten the room. And what an amazing self-made and self-taught entrepreneur. Always enjoyed being around him and so did the family. He will be missed.
