Baxter Leach Obituary

Mr. Baxter (June) Leach, Jr. 73, of Salisbury, departed from his his earthly home on Friday, Sept. 1, 2017, at Carolina ContinueCARE, Charlotte. Born Sept. 3, 1943 in Rowan County, he was the son of the late Baxter Claybrooks Leach, Sr. and Lillian Odessa Flint Leach. He was educated in the public schools of Rowan County and attended R.A. Clement School in Cleveland. He later earned certification in auto mechanics. Baxter was employed numerous places during his life time such as the Rice and Ratledge Mill and Ezell Moore Construction Co., in Woodleaf and Fluor Daniel and C&W Roofing Co., Salisbury and Martin Marietta, Charlotte. In Baxter's pastime he enjoyed tinkering with broken lawnmowers and cars. He loved watching the Grit TV network particularly “Walker, Texas Ranger” and “In The Heat of The Night”. He was preceded in death by his siblings Robert Jones, Mary Leach, Coranne Leach, Adele Addie Mae Bares, Willie Mae Luckey, Alma Oakley, Charlotte Dixon, Garland Leach, Lester Leach, Arthur Bill Leach, Lucille Geter, Mildred Reid, Beulah Leach, James Leroy Leach, Everette(Ebb) Leach and Ada Bell Leach Morrison. He is survived by a daughter, Shannon Summers Jemmott(Julian) of Baltimore, Md.; five sisters, Lillian Summers, Barbara Hairston, Priscilla Meredith all of Salisbury, Lois Helen Leach of Woodleaf, and Patricia Ann Funderburk of Landis, two brothers, John F. Leach (Carmen) of Woodleaf and Mack A. Leach (Fernandena) of Salisbury; six grandchildren; companion and partner, Brenda Harper; close friend Wayne Hill of Salisbury; a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and nephews and friends. Arrangements: Services will be held on Saturday, Sept. 9, at the A.R. Kelsey Memorial Chapel Noble and Kelsey Funeral Home, Inc. Visitation will be at 3 p.m. and memorial service at 3:30 p.m., with Rev. Paul Jones, officiating. Friends and Family will be received at his sister's home on 1006 Celebration Dr., Salisbury.
