Frances Hayworth Obituary

Obituary content Frances Sue Crow Hayworth was born on December 18, 1931 to Adele Tolson and James Wilson Crow in Sweet Home, Arkansas. She graduated from Radford College in Virginia in 1954 with a degree in Early Education and married Raymond Hayworth, Jr. of High Point, NC. They moved to Salisbury, NC in 1965 where they spent most of their years together.

A devout wife and mother, Sue spent much of her time volunteering for various church, civic, and charitable activities. She was an avid reader and enjoyed watching the PGA Tournaments. She had a very active life that included regular outings with her Book and Bridge Clubs, trips and vacations with family and friends, and a weekly Friday Lunch Club that ended each week with a delightful afternoon of good food, conversation, and time with her closest friends at a different location each week.

Sue was loved dearly by family and friends and will be greatly missed. Her inviting spirit was a blessing to all that knew her. Sue was preceded in death by her mother and father, Adele and Wilson Crow; her husband Ray; and her sister Bettye Jean of Batesville, Arkansas. She leaves her son Wilson and his wife Hannah and their children Abigail, Willi, Mixon, and Major Hayworth; and her daughter Ellen and husband Charlie Black, and their children Julie Black; Adam Black, and Charlee Heaton, and great grandchildren Ryker Black, Sawyer Black, Silas Heaton and Ruthie Heaton.

A Memorial Service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church in Salisbury on Friday, August 2, at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, Sue requested a donation be made to the Rowan County Public Library, the Glen Kiser Hospice House in Salisbury, or any organization of your choice.
