Jack Alexander Obituary

Jack Benny Alexander passed away at Atrium Health Cabarrus on Saturday, April 21, 2023. He was born in Iredell County on February 25, 1929 and was the son of Dora Winecoff Alexander and Francis E. Alexander. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Landis. He was married to Juanita Goodnight Alexander for 58 loving years. Jack was a Korean War veteran serving on the U. S. S. Lorikeet from 1948 – 1952. He served his country proudly for three years, eleven months, and twenty-nine days. Although Jack was discharged from the United States Navy in 1952, he held his love for his country and the United States Navy close to his heart. He proudly flew a United States flag on his property daily, and proudly donned his Korean War veteran cap. He was always proud to share many stories and memories with others about his years of service. He and Juanita loved sharing meals and spending time with their family and friends. In addition, Jack and Juanita also enjoyed spending time at the Salisbury Moose Lodge, traveling, and dancing. Jack was a self-employed sheet rock finisher and a specialty painter. Jack was also a lifelong avid sports fan. He loved following many sports, especially the University of North Carolina Tarheels. He spent many years following the activities and the sports teams that his granddaughters participated in through the years. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of fifty-eight years, Juanita Goodnight Alexander, his sons Benny Alexander and Audie Alexander, granddaughters Brenda Adcock Sloop (Stanley), Michelle Adcock (Neil), and great granddaughter Haley Sloop. Jack was the last living survivor of nine siblings. Family members that have preceded him in death are his sisters Margaret Alexander Seamon, Mary Alexander Nichols, Annie Alexander Morris, and brothers James Alexander, Mack Alexander, Leroy Alexander, Boyce Alexander, and Wallace Alexander. Also preceding him in death was Charles Gene Adcock, Jack's stepson. The family will receive friends at West Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel on Thursday April 27, 2023 from 2:00 pm till 3:00 pm with Graveside service to follow at 3:00 pm also at West Lawn with Pastor Candice Carter officiating. Graveside rites with full military honors will follow the services at West Lawn Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, 108 W. Rice Street, Landis, NC.
