Ode To A Friend
Jim enjoyed time with his children and his young wife
Very few people I know had more of a zest for life
He was quick with a joke and could laugh at himself
Even in his golden years you couldn't put him on the shelf
He built his young family a dream house on the lake
With love, steel and concrete he made no mistakes
He was a maverick of ingenuity that others admired
His accomplishments were beyond what most could aspire
He was generous with his family and friends who he truly adored
Yet for him it wasn't enough, he wished he could do more
He was worldly in a way that came off as humbled
And though he dealt with chronic pain he seldom grumbled
If you were honored enough to have him as your friend
You knew you could count on him to the bitter end
He was one of the most intriguing people I have ever met
And his legacy of a fulfilled life will thrive you can bet
He soared with the eagles while he was on earth
Now he is with Christ and the angels waiting on his rebirth
