Lester Kirk

Lester Allen Kirk, 69, of Faith, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2022, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem after a prolonged illness with Parkinson's Disease. Born July 31, 1953, in Rowan County, he was the son of the late Lester Alexander Kirk and Sallie Pauline Heilig Kirk. Allen was a 1971 graduate of East Rowan High School. He attended the UNC-Charlotte School of Engineering for two years. This was followed by two additional years at the New England School of Photography in Boston, Massachusetts. He retired from Harris Teeter, Inc. of Salisbury. Allen was a life-long member of Faith Lutheran Church where he served in the Luther League and as an usher. He had been a member of the Faith Junior Civitans (Jaycees). He was a certified Scubadiver and photography became his second hobby. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his twin brothers, Larry Wayne Kirk and Donald Paul Kirk; and a sister, Alice Faye Kirk Riddle. Left to cherish his memory are three sisters, Shirley Kirk Peeler (Ted), Brenda Kirk Ballew (Mike) and Patricia Kirk Morgan (Boyd); brother in-law, Eddie Riddle; eight nieces and nephews, Mark Peeler, Sharon Bame, Joy Lingle, Lloyd Ballew, Amanda Meacham, Greg Riddle, Stephen Riddle and Jason Riddle. Visitation: The family greeted friends and relatives from 10-10:45 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 10, at Faith Lutheran Church Family Life Center, Faith, NC. Service: The funeral service followed at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 10, at the church, with Pastor Rob Crawford officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
