Ruby Wyatt Walton

Ruby Wyatt Walton, 88, of Spencer, passed away Thursday, June 6, 2019 at her son's residence in Oak Ridge, TN. Born July 16, 1930 in Rowan County, NC, she was a daughter of the late Pleasant Lovelace Wyatt and Amanda Miller Wyatt. She was a graduate of Spencer High School and Salisbury Commercial College. She was a homemaker having previously worked as a secretary to the superintendent of the N.C. Baptist Children's Home, Kennedy Home in Kinston, NC from 1950 -1958. Mrs. Walton was an active member of Oakdale Baptist Church in Spencer where she has served as a Sunday School teacher and a past president of the W.M.U. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Jacob Adam Walton on August 9, 2017; brother, Baxter L. Wyatt; and sisters, Zula W. Marlin, Louise W. Adams and Evelyn W. Smith. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Dr. Mark David Walton (Sandra Barnes Walton) and Jill Spohn (Philip Spohn); grandchildren, Isaac Walton (Sarah Peterson Walton), Caleb Walton, Nevin Spohn and Ryan Spohn; great-grandchildren, David Walton and Ruby Rae Walton; brother, Dr. Raymond L. Wyatt; and very special nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 12:30 – 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 11, 2019 at Oakdale Baptist Church. The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Jeff Norton officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family extends a special thank you to all of her caregivers for their loving care during her declining years.
