Steven Bostian Obituary

Hoyle Steven “Steve” Bostian, 77, passed away Dec. 5, 2021. Born July 6, 1944, in Columbia, S.C., the son of his late parents, Barbara Yost Bostian and Hoyle Socrates Bostian. Steve grew up in Salisbury where he attended Boyden High School. Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served from 1962-1967 and was trained to be an electrician. During his military career he was stationed at K.I. Sawyer Air Force Base in Michigan, and JGSDF Camp Tachikawa in Japan. Following his military career, he returned to Salisbury and was employed by PPG, General Electric, and Duke Power before starting his own electrical service and contracting business. He was self-employed for several years before moving to North Myrtle Beach, S.C., in 1981, and continued with his electrical business under the names of Steve Bostian Electric and then later Oceanique Electric. He sold the business in 2003 and to keep from being bored he worked in the electrical department at Lowe's in North Myrtle Beach for five years. After retirement he continued to use his skills doing small electrical jobs in the community and for friends. A faithful and trusted community servant, Steve loved to help his family, friends and neighbors. In all the communities in which he lived it was important to him to volunteer his expertise as an electrician. He also served on several HOAs and church councils. Steve loved to travel, going to NASCAR races, being on the water, and spending time with family and friends. Steve is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Brenda; and a daughter, Julie Bostian of Longs, S.C., who were both by his side as he entered his eternal home. He is also survived by his sister, Gwen Brown (Ken) and their daughters, Kristina Black, and Kathy Brown; a brother Mitch Bostian (Karen) and their son, Jeremy Bostian; and daughters, Taylor Williams (Bennie) and Dana Barnhardt; and numerous great nieces and nephews. Arrangements: A memorial service will be held Saturday, Dec. 18 at 2 p.m., at Trinity United Methodist Church at 706 14th Avenue South, North Myrtle Beach, S.C. A visitation will immediately follow the service at the church. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Caring In Our Lifetime, the local fight against breast cancer in Horry and Georgetown counties. This organization was dear to his heart and assists individuals with their breast cancer related medical bills. Both his wife and daughter are breast cancer survivors and he loved them with every ounce of his being. Memorials may be made at CaringInOurLifetime.com or by mail to P.O. Box 1193, Myrtle Beach, SC 29578. After making an online donation please email [email protected] and mention your donation is in memory of Steve Bostian.
