Anthony Lamont Clifford Sykes "Boo"

1984 ~ 2022

Anthony Lamont Clifford Sykes "Boo" left this world on June 11, 2022, to be with our Father in Heaven and his Precious grandmother. Anthony was born April 14, 1984, to Lisa Sykes of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Tony Butler of Indianapolis Indiana. He was born a healthy and vibrant baby boy, who had a smile that lit up the world. He had a tender heart and passion for children, and this was evident in the way he treated his own Kiddos. He had what some would call a children's whisper, that drew all children to him. Anthony showed a deep love for his family and never hesitated to let them know how much he loved and cared for them. He encouraged all of them, to be all that they could be, and applauded them when they did so. Anthony had a passion and drive for all sports, which started when he was a child. He lettered in basketball, football, and track. He won State in 4X1 (relay) all while attending East High School, where he graduated in 2002. He was a Varsity starter in Football and Basketball and was a shining star when on the field and court. He played fast pitch Baseball for Central City Rec center in mid-school and made the All-Star team for all years he played with them. For all the years he played sports, he stayed connected to Kiwanis Felt Boys and Girls club, were Glenn Klain and other counselors taught him sportsmanship, how to be a team player and encouraged him too always be all he could. A special thanks to Glenn and the "Club". Anthony was a dedicated worker and valued the opportunities he was given through his employers, and was committed to any task he was assigned. Anthony is survived by, Mother: Lisa Maria Sykes, Grandmother Martha Craig, Aunts: Dorothy Rolle (Jeannie), Wanda Harrison, Uncle: Daniel Harrison, Brothers: and Sister Aton Sykes, Rahseam Sykes, Sean Brown Sisters: Shalonda Sykes, Licole Gaston, Lindsey Bell, Tilisha Gaston, Daughters: Kiana Brooklyn Valdez and Athena Sykes Son: Anthony Joseph Sykes, Granddaughter: Deliah Fay Soriano, Nephews: Zion Sykes, Jaxson Lamont Sykes, Kharter Amos Gaston, Savion Cage, Samari Cage, Siah Cage, Nieces: Aryiah Mae Lopez, Kenzon Gaston, Emiya Sykes, Eliza Sykes, Zailey Sykes, Zahra Sykes, Stepfather: John Ward and a host of cousins and close friends. My deepest condolences to the family. I knew Anthony from high school as well as the boys and girls club. I don't think I ever saw him without a smile on his face and determination in his eyes. He pushed me to be a better person whether that be pole vaulting, running or running into him at the boys & girls club. He was such a lifted spirit that no matter how bad of a day that you were having just by being around him it brought a smile to your face. My deepest and most sincere condolences to his family his friends and anybody that is feeling the loss in their heart.

Absolutely breaks my heart to hear the news about Anthony. He was such a great person and without a doubt lit up every room he was in. I played basketball with him every day for years up at East high and can say he was one of the best men I've had the opportunity to know. Condolences to his family.
