Blasia Olson Obituary
Blasia DuyacoffOlson 1915 ~ 2004 HELPER - Blasia Duyacoff Olson, beloved wife of Irvin Olson, died July 23, 2004 in Price, Utah at the age of 89. Blasia was born May 27, 1915 at Cambria, Wyoming the first daughter of Yordan and Catherine Zurick Duyacoff. She was a member of the Catholic Church. Blasia spent her early years in Wyoming and Minnesota, and graduated from Hot Springs County High School in Thermopolis, Wyoming, Class of 1934. She came to work in Helper, Utah where she met and fell in love with Irvin Olson. They were married Valentine's Day 1941 and began a marriage of complete and total devotion to each other that lasted until Irvin's death in 2001. Caring for her family was the focus of Blasia's life. Blasia and Irvin led a quiet life in their pleasant home across the street from the Helper City Park. Irvin worked on the railroad and Blasia kept their home. Those who came to visit always came to the back door because they knew it was closest to the kitchen, where all were offered something to eat and drink and cheerful conversation. They raised their children and enjoyed their extended families, Blasia making sure that each child had their own special knitted afghan and other handiwork. It was rare to see Blasia without her husband at her side. They liked to play cards with their friends and to go gambling in Nevada. When her husband of 60 years passed away, the light of her life went out. Blasia was in ill health for the last few years, and her family would like to thank the staff at Castle Country Care Center for their affection and care for her. Blasia was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Irvin; sister, Helen Stoffa; and her brother, Florian Duyacoff.
