George Norr Obituary

George Norr

1939 - 2022

Grandpa Ed, as was his favorite title, left this earth, as he predicted, one day shy of his 83rd birthday. He arrived in heaven into the loving arms of many including his wife Mary Brothers Norr. Ed was born in Salt Lake City, Utah to Lucille Annie Ridges and Vaugh Edmond Norr. He was child two of four. Ed left home when he was 14 years old and explored the United States on his own. Ed joined the U.S. Army as soon as possible. He served for four years and was stationed in Korea. He never tried the kimchi! He married Mary Brothers in September 1963. She was the love of his life. He said of her, "She kept me an honest man". A few days before his death he said, "I can't wait to hold her hand again". They had two sons, George and Paul. Ed finally became a grandfather at the age of 68. One of his favorite past times was holding the grand babies on his recliner as they both snored away.

Ed was an entrepreneur. He had a successful mail order business prior to the internet. He built two cabins in Midway Utah with his own hands. He was a hard worker often having more than one job to provide for his family. He will be greatly missed.

He is preceded in death by his wife Mary and his sister Carol. He leaves behind a family that will miss his constant joking. George & Debbie, Paul & Martina. Grandchildren Marc, Zoe, and Zack. His sister Maxine & (Gene) Bolton, Larry Norr, Linda Brothers, Monica MacKamey, and multiple nieces and nephews.

Ed will be honored in a celebration of life on Saturday, April 23rd, at 2 p.m. at Larkin Mortuary 260 E South Temple, Salt Lake City, UT. Viewing will be held at the same address on Friday, April 22nd from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the same address.

We all know that George inspired many folks along his path in life.
Me being one of them and for that I'll always be grateful to a great mentor.

George was my mentor in the early 80's. He had
such "good old commonsense". He will be missed.
Prayers go out to his family.
