Not sure what to say?

Claire and Glenn; I am stunned. I found out about Jeff's passing from Dean on Memorial Day. I am truly sorry for your loss. Jeff was a good friend in our younger days. He was a character that always kept things lively. I lost track of him when I moved to "happy valley", but always enjoyed the games with the "U" because I could catch a glimpse of Jeff and could tell my kids we grew up together. At times like this its hard to know what to say. Your lucky in one way, because his memory will live on in the lives of the many people he taught, coached, and worked with.

Dear MaMaLu and Mr. Parkin,

I am so sorry to hear about the loss of JP. What a wonderful person, so talented, funny and such a great friend. I have so many fond memories of our cheerleading squad making up national routines in your living room and having such a wonderful time. JP had such a quick wit and had us all in stitches with everthing he said or did. Alot of time has passed since I last talked to him, but he has never been far from my thoughts or my heart. I am deeply saddened by his loss. This world has lost an outstanding person, but heaven has gained greatly. You are in my thoughts and prayers always.

With love Dori

I was so shocked and saddened to hear of J.P.'s passing -- I can remember much earlier times (back to Junior High School) when we had fun together laughing and joking together. It was a great surprise to run in to JP later in life at the U of U Football games. What a great tribute to him to have all of the cheerleaders doing so well and to see how much all of them loved him. You could tell how he loved them too, and enjoyed what he was doing. It was always special when JP would have them come and cheer for our tailgating parties before the games. His infectious smile and fun personality will always be with me. My husband and I will send some special prayers for his loved ones left behind, and we will have our gratitude for even being blessed with knowing JP. Rest in peace, friend.

Dear Mr. & Mrs. Parkin,

It was with shock and great sadness that I learned of JP's untimely death.

I was told by one of his past cheerleaders who is helping me

judge my next year's squad. JP was a true mentor to me. My first year as head cheer coach at Highland High, I had no idea what I was doing. JP took me under his wing and taught me so much, he even brought the U of U cheerleaders to help us perform at our 1st pep rally. He taught me that kindness and concern beats out yelling and sterness every time. He taught me to believe in myself and my squad and that I could be a cheer coach after all.

I will miss you my friend.

God bless you and your family.

Love,

Claudia Bellamy

JP:

I enjoyed judging with you a couple of weeks ago. You were an amazing person. You were always concerned about others, and kept us laughing with your great personality. You have done so much for the Cheerleading World in Utah and throughout the USA. Thanks for helping my squads. They loved going to the U of U camps and coming to your competitions. You were always willing to share your talent and expertise with us, which helped us reach our full potential. You will continue to be in my thoughts! "CHEERS" to you JP!

JP,

You've changed my life more than you know! As some people know, I had NO cheerleading experience whatsoever till I went to the U of U. JP was sooo generous and patient in teaching me everything I needed to know. I experienced sooo much in those 4 yrs(95-99) that I wouldn't take back for anything. I also wouldn't have met the friends I have today.

JP I thank you for giving me a chance and changing my life.

You will never be forgotten.

Mamalu and Glenn, you are in my prayers.

No matter how far away you are, when your name is mentioned everyone will smile. I will miss you very much, and am very thankful I had just spent time with you. Sabrina

Jeff - I love you. I remember when we first met in the summer of 1972. We were the lucky ones who had landed our great jobs at Lagoon. We soon adopted Misty into our group of close friends. I was sure you were my younger brother that went to the wrong family. Then I met Mamalu and Glenn and knew you were in the right family, but I still wanted you as my younger brother. You, Misty and me what a fun memorable time we had that summer. Our friendship grew and I knew I would know you forever and that we would always be friends. I was ever so proud to have you meet my daughters and we would watch you and the Ute Cheerleaders at the football games. I would bring my girls to the sidelines to see you and talk to you – I wanted them to met and know my wonderful friend. When we would see each other there was always a great big hug between us. Jeff, I will never forget you and you will always be my friend. Mamalu and Glenn you have raised a wonderful, extraordinary son who is loved and cherished by many. I know he touched the lives of everyone he came in contact with.

I will love you forever – Cathy June Franks

I ran into Jeff about a month ago, and it was clear that he was not well, however, as we caught up I noted that his spirit and optimism had not diminished from when he was my student at the University of Utah. Jeff always brought elan and mischief to the classroom, making our hour together fun and meaningful. He would stop by my office and brighten my day. I know that his cheerleading squads loved working with him and he with them. His time on the planet touched many people, including me, and he will be missed.

JP, what an exceptionally bright, creative, and funny guy. Always ten steps ahead of you. Travels with JP were always an adventure. A poem by William Butler Yeats for JP, The Lake Isle of Innisfree.

I will arise and go now, and go to Innisfree,

And a small cabin build there, of clay and wattles made;

Nine bean rows will I have there, a hive for the honey bee,

And live alone in the bee-loud glade.

And I shall have some peace there, for peace comes dropping slow,

Dropping from the veils of the morning to where the cricket sings;

There midnight's all a glimmer, and noon a purple glow,

And evening full of the linnet's wings.

I will arise a go now, for always night and day

I hear lake water lapping with low sounds by the shore;

While I stand on the roadway, or on the pavements gray,

I hear it in the deep heart's core.

Jp is and will always be my inspiration and my hero. It was such an honor to know him as a student, colleague and most important a friend. He made me the person I am today and gave me a chance to be the person i truely was when nobody else would. Your shoes will never be filled completely, you were such an amazing person that it would be hard to compare anyone to you. I miss you Jp, words cant express the hole in my heart.

I love you

Glenn and Claire:

We learned of your sons untimely passing today and want you to know that we are truly saddened by your loss. Our heart goes out to you. Nine years ago when we moved in as your next door neighbors Jeffery was already a grown man and had moved away. So unfortunately we really never knew him very well. He sounded like a wonderful person and you can certainly be proud of him. He had a rich and rewarding life and made many significant and lasting contributions to all he touched. We send our most sincere condolences and support as your friends and next door neighbors. We pray that heavenly father will be with, comfort and bless you at this most difficult time. We send our love and deepest sympathies. You are truly in our prayers. If we can do anything at all to help or assist you do not hesitate to call and let us know. God bless.
