I remember Pres. Jensen when he was in the Stake Presidency of the Welby Stake. I remember him being at Stake Girl's Camp and how much fun he had with us. I admired the love he often expressed for his wife and hoped I would marry a man one day who spoke of me the same way. What a privelege for your family to have such a worthy husband and father that he would be taken at such a time so that his talents could be used to teach and bless others on the other side. I hope that knowledge brings you peace and pray all the best for you. Sincerely,
Jennifer Christensen

Dear Jensen Family,
I wanted to write to tell you that my thoughts and prayers are with your family. President Jensen will be missed greatly. He has made a difference in my life, and I know in many others' as well. He is such an example of a Christlike, loving person, of a living testimony, and I will always remember his smiling face and his way of making people feel so loved and cared for.

To The Jensen Family, My condolences go out to you for the lose of your husband/father. In the short time that you all spent on your mission you have touched a lot of lives, including my family. I met Pres. Jensen at the Mission Home one afternoon when I was dropping off some produce from my garden. He was in casual attire and alone at home. I could feel a quiet but powerful spirit emanating from him. Watching Janet on Sundays with her boys when she wasn't needed somewhere else was a wonderful example to us all of a patient and loving mother. Living in the Camp Hill Ward we are doubly blessed in that the Mission Home is in our boundaries and we get to really know the family. I remember when the Jensens first arrived and they spoke in sacrament meeting. Nathan was telling us a little bit about himself. He told us he had a few things he was interested in, the first being girls. I remember President Jensen had a smile on his face as he shook his head slightly and lowered it. I spoke with Janet the Sunday after President Jensen passed on and I told her that 25 years ago my husband had also passed on and I was left to raise my three daughters without him. After the initial several weeks of dealing with the changes that came, there comes a time of let down and exhaustion. The Lord was with me throughout this time and I felt his arms around my shoulders sustaining me and lifting me up over and over again. We, as a church are so blessed in knowing that we are not alone and that one day we will be united with our loved ones who have gone on before. We believe in eternal families and that is such a comfort through this time. Janet, your belef in your Heavenly Father will get you through these challenging times. You are loved by many people who want to lighted your burded. Let them help. Your children will be a blessing and a comfort to you. Here in Pennsylvania we have all been blessed for having known your family and we pray that you will find the peace and comfort the Lord has for you. Love to you all, Stella Edmonds-Hull.

Janet, I was so shocked and saddened when I heard about the passing of your dear husband. I never had the honor of meeting him, but he sounds like a wonderful man. You were always such a good example to me as we were growing up. I want you to know that you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. I hope that you will take some comfort that so many people care.

President Jenson was a remarkable man. He brought such a spirit into the room and made everyone feel inspired. He will never be forgotten. His family was full of joy and laughter and I was blessed to have had the chance to know them even for such short a time.

Jerry was the student body president at Snow College where my husband and I attended. I had several classes with him. I had such admiration for him. He melted everyone when he would sing. I looked for every oportuinty to hear him.
Dean and I both knew that he was going to do a lot with his life. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.

A note to you Janet, from a sister in the past. I have thought of you over the years. Smile when Cherie would fill me in on how you were. Wondering if we would ever meet again. Always wanting to "show-off" my wonderful family to you as evidence of how my conversion at 16 yrs. old continues to be my greatest blessing. I do send with all my heart, my love and condolences to you at this time. Just can't imagine.

Janet and Family,
Wendy and I am so sorry for your loss. Words are inadequate for the feelings we have for you and your family. Jerry has been a great leader and friend over these years that we have lived in West Jordan. We will miss him dearly. During this time we have been out of town and wished we could have been home for the funeral, but were grateful that Spencer attended in our absence. We pray for you and your family in the days ahead and know the Spirit will continue to comfort and sustain you.

Dear Janet and family,
I was so surprised when talking with my mother today to hear of Jerry's passing. I still remember growing up with your family in the ward and babysitting your children..it seems like so long ago, and yet it isn't. I am truly sad for the loss to your family, but knowing what a great and spiritual man Jerry is, I also knew right away that he had a much higher mission to fulfill to our Savior. My favorite memory of Jerry was when I was in Young Womens, a Beehive, I believe and he came in and sang "O Holy Night" as part of our Christmas lesson. I had no idea of the musical talent he had been given till that day, and I must admit, that from then on, "O Holy Night" has been my favorite Christmas carol and one that brings tears to my eyes when I think of the love and sincerity it was sang. Janet, as I know you know, this is just a temporary separation till you and your best friend are together again, and until that happens, I know in my heart your family will have many more blessing given to you. You're in my thoughts and prayers.

Last night our Stake Relief Society president, Geri Cottle, a cousin of Jerry’s, spoke in our stake conference about being spiritually self-reliant. She used Jerry and his wife as examples. She said that they put their family and the gospel as their top priorities and that their children were spiritually trained by them. Then our visiting authority, Quentin L. Cook, said that he had attended Pres. Jensen's funeral and he was touched by the program and the wonderful talks that their sons gave and seeing how spiritually strong their family members are.

Sister Jensen and Family,
Like so many others I fondley look to the time when your husband served as President of the Jordan Oaks Stake and remember him as "my" Stake President. As a youth growing up your husband was such a wonderful example to me. I had the chance to meet with him before my mission and my sweet wife and I had the chance to meet with him before we were married. I still remember frequently the counsel and spirit that he shared with us. President Jensen had that intrinsic gift of making you feel like you wanted to be your best. While serving my mission in Ecuador I came across an old Church News that had his picture in it. I remember chuckling that he was keeping an eye on me even while I was in Ecuador. Even then, thousands of miles away he reminded me with just a photo to serve as the kind of missionary he had set me apart to be. I'm so greatful and honored to have been one of the many that was touched by the life of your husband. Such a good man! May our Father in Heaven's blessings and love be with you and your family at this difficult time.

Sister Jensen and Family,
I am so sorry that I was not able to attend the funeral and be reunited with you and your family along with friends from the West Jordan Utah area.
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your beautiful family at this time of trial in your life. What a blessing and influence Jerry was in my life when I made your family acquaintance in West Jordan many years ago. What a joy it was to me to be able to be Alexi's teacher when she was very young. I'll never forget the influence your family had on me as a person, and the love that radiated from both you and Jerry. You were always very Christlike and sincere in your feelings towards me as a person. Jerry always spoke very highly of you Janet, as his wife and helpmate - and said that without you - he would not have been the man he was. I am sure that he was met with a resounding "Well done my good and faithful servant" when he left this mortal life and went to fulfill his mission with our Heavenly Father and Savior Jesus Christ. What an example he was to all of us - and how he loved the youth of the church. My son Bill commented to me just yesterday how much Jerry loved and cared for the youth. He was a fabulous man, friend, Stake President and Mission President, and will be missed by many. His "footsteps"have left a great impression in my life. I am sure many of us have been changed by his great love for each or us. His great smile and beautiful eyes and voice let you know that he truly loved you. Janet, may God's choicest blessings be with you in the challenges and the stepping stones you have to overcome in this life before you can be reunited with your loved one. What a wonderful thing to know - that we will have this opportunity to once again be with our loved ones.
Love to you and your family,

I will never forget the many meetings in which President Jensen spoke, and the amazing spirit I would feel each and every time. Any time he spoke you could clearly see the deep love he had for The Lord, his family, and those he was called to serve. I had the opportunity to sit with him as my Stake President before my mission, when I was released from my mission, and when I married my wife. It was such a neat experience to sit with a man That was so close to the Lord and recieve words of wisdom and counsel. The counsel he shared with me greatly influenced my mission, my marriage, and my life. I am full of gratitude to be able to know him. He truly blessed many people during his life here. Thanks to the Jensen Family for strengthening him in his service, and the sacrifice you gave to allow him to serve. My wife and I send our deepest sympathy and love at this time of grief.

Dear Janet and Jensen family,
You do not know us, but in 1977-78 Jerry was a student of mine at the institute at Snow College. He was a talented young man and outstanding leader. A few years ago we met again as stake presidents in area training meetings. I knew of your mission call and was so pleased for your family.
We pray for all of you as you move forward at this time of loss, we know where Jerry is and wish you God's choicest blessings.
We did not know of his death until it was too late to attend his viewing or funeral.
Please know that we respected and loved your husband and father and will always pray for each of you.

To My Sweet Family,
Tonight we attended Jerry's reception and were amazed at the number of people there in line waiting to pay respects to a wonderful human being. We were in line 2-1/2 hours as most were. I also was amazed at how even at 8:45 Janet stood so graciously and smiling. I asked how she could and she said, with all the love here, I'm doing well.
Why I was amazed I don't know - because Stephen's and Mac's and Deon's were all that way. We are a hardworking, passionate, diverse family. All accepted and loved for our differences. And I think we're all cute with great senses of humor. I love most of all the diversity.
I'm so proud to be a part of this family and always have been, it is getting bigger and bigger and bigger and... the legacy just keeps on going.
I spoke with Jeanette, Connie, Carl and Kelly - the disease that took Jerry has us all very concerned.
To my wonderful family, we're all so busy but we all have email. I'm going to be changing mine from earthink if they ever get the radio thingy fixed on West Mt. to install wireless internet. but at the moment I am [email protected] and [email protected] ( which will disappear in a month or so), Susie is [email protected].
I would love to make email contact with all of you, and Jeanette, yes, it is definitely time again for us to have reunions in person. BUT - if we all have each others emails we can be in contact much more often than yearly reunions.
I would love for my cute family to please respond to [email protected] and I will share and be sure we all know email addresses and can be in much much closer contact together. Send pictures and notes and talk about our happy and sad things like Tycia won 3 first places, 1 second and 1 third at the Las Vegas Arabian Horse Show this weekend - and then Thom dropped the bathroom sink on my foot and it's broken but I'm fine.
Love, Penny

Dear Jensen Family,
President Jensen was far more than just my Stake President, he is my friend. He stood by my side when my whole world collapsed around me and I thought that I could not go on. He helped me see that I could. He always greeted me with a warm smile, a kind word and a firm handshake. He even gave me a hug the day he approved my temple recommend so that I could marry my sweetheart. I would like to think that I was special, but the best part of President Jensen is that he greeted everyone with the same warm smile and kind word that he greeted me. He is the kind of person who made everyone around him feel special. I am very honored to count President Jensen as my friend. He will be deeply missed.

Dear Jensen Family,
Having grown up in the Welby Stake, I had the opportunity to get to know your husband and father through the youth activities. If I remember correctly, one of his first responsibilities as a High Counselor in the Welby Stake was to attend a youth conference at BYU. At this conference, President Jensen taught me a very valuable lesson, the power of being a good example. At an activity, I remarked that I didn't want to sit next to him because he "would make me be good". I had said this to some friends, not knowing that he had overheard me. At the testimony meeting the next day, he relayed my remarks from the previous evening and said that he was thankful that I thought of him as someone who would inspire me to be good. It was an experience I have often thought of. Although I had limited knowledge of him, I remember his demeanor and countenance and I knew that he would in fact motivate me to be good. I will never forget that lesson and I hope that you find comfort in knowing that he touched many lives, many of whom you do not know. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Dear Janet and Family,
The news of Jerry's death came as quite a shock. When someone you love dies, it causes alot of reflection. I have spent the evening looking through Snow College year books. I have laughed and cried as I reflected on the many memories that I have of Jerry. We performed together, and double dated together. He had a profound impact on my life. He introduced me to his best friend who later became my husband with whom I had three beautiful sons. You can't get much more profound than that. There are so many people that I wouldn't even know if it hadn't been for my friendship with Jerry. In fact some of the most important people in my life are there because of Jerry. I feel honored to have known him and to have shared a small part of his life with him. My prayers are with you, Janet and your children and family.
With Deepest Sympathy, Leisa Higbee

Dear Jensen Family:
Many years ago, when I was serving as President of Snow College I was blessed with the opportunity to associate closely with Jerry when he served as Studentbody President. I have always respected him and as I think about the many things he did then and has accompliched since I am honored to have known and loved him.
Though I do not know his wife and children I know their husband and father well. He was a man of integrity and honor. Please accept our condolances and love. Our knowledge of the Savior and our Father in Heaven gives us courage to deal with life at times like this. Our prayer is that you will feel that sweet peace that surpasses all understanding as you contemmplate the fact that you now have another close connection on the other side of the veil.

Dearest Jensen Family-
My deepest heartfelt prayers and love are with you at this difficult time. Pres. Jensen was such a gift to so many of us...his testimony blessed and strengthened us, his spirit touched our hearts, and his music lifted our spirits.
We thank you for sharing him with us and Janet, we thank you for being the incredible woman that you are...our love and prayers are with you. Even though we know it's not "the end" and there will be a loving and wonderful reunion someday...his absence will be deeply felt.
He brought laughter and light and love into the lives of so many people...I'm sure he is doing the same even now.
May the Lord bless you and comfort you.
Much love,

How do I even begin? I doubt President Jensen ever knew what a role he played in my life, I myself did not realize it until I heard the horrible news of his passing. Having spent many of my teenage years inactive I missed out knowing him so much better; but as I approached my twenties, he helped overcome some difficult times and did so with great kindness. I was shocked sitting in his office the day he refused to sign my mission papers, saying I had more important things to do, a mere 9 months later he willingly signed my temple reccommend that allowed me to be sealed to my husband; whom he had known since Jared was young. President Jensen mentioned at that time what I would have lost had he signed my mission papers. How grateful I am to him for his insight. I didn't see him again after that day, I married and moved out of the stake and have not been back. That was more than 4 years ago and yet I still get weepy when I think of the conversations I had with him. If only I had told him.
My husband and I both want to express our love and sympathy to his family, though we have never met. We pray that his spirit will never leave you and that the Lord will always be mindful of you.
With great sympathy,

Our family was saddened to hear of President Jensen's passing. Our son, Elder Adam Cole is currently serving in Sunbury, PA, and spoke highly of President & Sister Jensen and the family. Although we, as his parents never had the opportunity to meet the Jensen's, they were and continue to be in our prayers. We appreciate the dedication to the missionaries they served with. Our son told us that he wanted to be strong, but that he had cried during the meeting on Saturday. He loves and will miss you all. Our sympathies are with you during this time.

Dear Jensen family,
My thoughts and prayers are with you. I have looked up to President Jensen for as long as I can remember knowing him. He carried with him such a powerful spirit that touched my heart and life many times. I felt blessed and strengthened every time I had the opportunity to be around him. I pray the Lord will be with you all during this time.

My husband and I had the priveledge of meeting the Jensen family last month when we visited Harrisburg at the end of our son's mission. They graciously opened their home to us as we joined their family and a few of the missionaries to watch general conference and have dinner. There was such a peaceful and reverent spirit in their home and about them. We were shocked and saddened by President Jensens' passing and feel a great sense of love and compassion for his family. It was evident that Sister Jensen has a deep quiet strength within her that will carry her through these difficult times. I have a testimony that Heavenly Father knows each of us intimately and He knows the Jensen family and will bouy them up in the coming months to weather this trial and be refined in the process. I have no doubt that President Jensen is continueing his mission in "another district" where the Lord needed him. He was a fine example for all of us to follow and I am grateful that my son had the opportunity to learn and be loved by President Jensen, he is a great man. His family will remain in our hearts and our prayers. We love you all.

We are so sorry for your temporary loss. It will be hard for a while, but instead of anger, I hope you feel the Savior's love and compassion for your family. Jerry did not have to suffer much before leaving this mortal coil. He was a great man, and we hope you can remember the good times, and look forward to many more to come. We fully enjoyed his spirit on Trek and in the other contacts we had with both Jerry and Janet. Love and best wishes, the Morton family.

My memory of President and Sister Jensen is from an open house a Sunday evening a couple of months ago. Through song and testimony, President invited the Spirit into each of our lives. Through their sacrifice of time to be with a small group of investigators, we also felt their love, and through them, the Savior's love. I spend time each week with the Elders in our ward, and their favorite topic of conversation has been President Jensen, his love, spirit, vision, and strength, and how the mission was moving forward under his leadership. I also anxiously await our future reunion, and the chance to be once again in the presence of one of the Lord's great ones.

Jerry was an inspiration to everyone he met. He was the type of man you just enjoyed being around. We remember his glow and radiance in April when we were together at Uncle Mike's. Janet and Jerry just seemed so happy to have been called to serve. You didn't even have to ask, you could tell by their glow just how excited they both were to serve the Lord!
Janet and family, our prayers are with you. We can only imagine the emptiness you must feel right now. We love you all and pray that you will recover from such a huge loss.

I met President and Sister Jensen for the first time at a baptism held in my ward just a few months ago. He gave a talk then sang the most beautiful song I have ever heard. I was moved to tears by the spirit in the words he sang and the music he played. I approached him afterward and asked about the music. When he replyed that it was his own, I was amazed. I wish more people could have heard him and felt the spirit that was so incredible in his presence. He will be greatly missed. I know the Elders and Sister missionaries in our ward (Lebanon) are very saddend by his passing. It is a great comfort to know that we will get to meet him again some day and to know that he is truly doing the Lord's work. May God bless and watch over your family here on earth, and bring you comfort in his memories.

Sister Jensen and family, I cannot imagine the tremendous ache your hearts feel at the passing of your husband and father. I pray that our Heavenly Father will ease your sorrow.
It has been my great privilege to know this extraordinary man since he became our stake president in 1996. He so often spoke of his great love for you, Janet, as the light of his life and the person most responsible for the man that he is. Never was your name spoken by your sweet husband without one knowing of his great love for you.
His love for Jesus was without bounds. My memories of him will always include his powerful testimony of the Living Christ and His gospel.
Few people on earth have impacted my life as profoundly as President Jensen has. He always inspired and motivated me to be a better person. His counsel to me was on the mark; always guidance that I needed. Thank you, Janet, for making him a better person, so that I could, in turn, become a better person.

Few men are able to leave such deep impressions on a person's soul. I met President Jensen once and heard him speak twice, but I felt like I had known him forever. His presence and spirit had to be comparable to that of the Savior's. He touched my life. I know he has done the same for others and continues to do so. He will be missed.

President Jensen was truly an inspiration to all who knew him. It was evident to all that he loved serving the Lord. When I first met him after their first Sunday at church in Pennsylvania, he told me he didn't know what the family would do after the mission or where they would live. He was so excited to be serving a mission that anything outside of that didn't seem to matter because of his great faith.
One day I saw him in his shorts and a t-shirt riding bikes near the mission home with Janet, Caleb, Daniel, and Michael. He seemed so happy. When I stopped to say hello, he was pleased to report that he was following the council of his leaders who told him that during his mission, his family was to come before all else.
We feel so blessed to have known President Jensen and his beautiful family. We will miss the boys coming over to play.
Janet, you and your children will always be in our hearts. Thank you for touching our lives so greatly in such a short time.
May your memories bring you comfort during this difficult time and may God bless you.

Dear Jensen Family, I can't begin to tell you of the influence you have had on my son in just four short months. It is true that Pres. Jensen has grown to love deeply each Elder. I have never seen a Mission President so involved personally in the lives of each Elder. He knew exactly what my son needed to inspire him to do his very best. He will never forget him. As parents, we let our sons and daughters go to be schooled and loved by their Mission President and his family. Thank you for your example. Elder Cook loved the whole Jensen family. We love you too even though we have never met.

I cannot begin to express the feelings of joy I had for having known President Jensen. He was truely an insperation to everyone. When you call the mission President's house you don't expect for him to take your call but he did. I had called to ask if he could give permission for Elder's Sukhan and Cambell to accompany myself to the Temple when I went to get Endowed. He promised me that if it could be done he would find a way. He later found me and appoligized for not getting the permission in time. President Jensen will always be in the memories of the Morris Family.
I was blessed with the opportunity to hear President Jensen speak at scout camp. I visited with him after the firside and he was so in tune with the spirit. He had some wonderful things to say to my son.
Again I was blessed with the opportunity to sit on the stage with President and Mrs. Jensen at Stake conference. I told him how nervous I was to be on the stage and he calmed my nerves by ensuring me that Heavenly Father doesn't set us up for failure. The spirit was so strong that day that it would be impossible for anyone to deny it.
My family truely loved President Jensen and all he stood for. He was very down to Earth and you could feel the sincerity in his voice. One could not help but feel at ease when speaking with him.
Our condolences go out to the Jensen Family. We have faith that Heavenly Father has more work for President Jensen to do and I'm sure it is as GREAT of a calling as he has ever served.

Sister Jensen and Family,
Our deepest sympathies to you at the earthly loss of your husband and father. I know that his presence here will be missed greatly.
Our son, Elder Clint Semrad currently serving in Dover PA, has a deep love and gratitude for President Jensen. He wrote to us that President Jensen is a most Christlike man and sees great potential in others and helps them to become their best. President Jensen had also expressed to us in a phone call that he loves others into doing what is right. We can truly see that through his love and influence he has touched and lifted so many lives. May we be able to follow his wonderful example.
Our hope is that you will feel our love and be comforted at this time.
Sincerely,
Kevin & Stacey Gray

Dear Jensen Family, We are so sorry for your loss and ours. President Jensen was such an incredible man. We new him as our Stake President and a man of great integrity and humility. The thing I remember most were his kind eyes, which naturally reflected his nature. I remember talking with him about our children at some stake function and the great pride he took in them. We have five of our own and I remember our children were just going into the teenage years and we were comparing notes and learning experiences.
We lost our 14 year old son in June and I know a bit of the loss your heart feels. I can only say that were it not for my knowledge that we will be together forever and that Heavenly Father must have really needed them, could I sustain the heartache of the loss. Please know we share your sorrow that his earthly life is done but also your joy in eternity. You won't see him but he will always be with you. Much Love, Kevin and Stacey Gray

Its difficult to express my feelings in words for the loss of our dear friend and Stake President. President Jensen impacted lives in such a unique and personal way. I will never forget him and the way he invoked the Spirit into every meeting he presided at.
I will miss his music and the way he would stop in the middle of a talk to share with us at the piano something that he had written. His voice was so beautiful and I'm grateful to have experienced it.
I add my testimony to that of others who know how close he is with the Lord. I witnessed this for myself as he laid his hands upon the head of our son to set him apart for his mission. I know that the Lord spoke through him and appreciate the fasting and other preparations that President Jensen went through to be so prepared for such events.
I have admired Janet from afar, and felt like I knew her through the love and tributes that President Jensen often expressed of her. I can only imagine the pain of loosing such a husband, father, son and brother must be. Please know that I pray for your comfort daily and know that the Lord will carry you through this most difficult time.

My son, Elder James S. Sukhan, has told me so much about how wonderful persons President and Sister Jensen were. He said he could not ask for a better mission president. He told me to tell you, Sister Jensen and the family, that he loves you and the President very much. He will always treasure the time and the valued lessons he learned from this humble servant of the Lord. Although I have never met you, I am thankful that my son had the privilege of serving under President and Sister Jensen on his mission. Please accept our deepest and most sincere condolences on this great loss. We will continue to remember you in our prayers.

I had the privilege to speak personally to Pres. Jensen when he came to our ward for a baptismal interview. He was so personable and truly interested in the people in this mission field. He spoke at our Stake conference in September and I was touched deeply by his message to the youth. I know that each young man that accepted his challenge to prepare for and serve a mission will never forget him and will cherish the pins that he gave as a reminder of that challenge. Additionally, my husband and son attended scout camp and told me that Pres. Jensen's talk was the highlight of the week. We were truly blessed in Pennsylvania to know such a fine individual. He will be missed.

Jensen Family,
We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of President Jensen. He was a great man not only to his family and the giving of church service, but also to the Lord. He was very prepared to meet the Lord. We thought for sure one day he would be a General Authority, but we now know the Lord has a great and marvelous work for him to do on the other side. What a great reunion must be going on up there. Sister Jensen, our thoughts and prayers are with you in this most difficult time. Thank you to your family for sharing with all of us such a great man! There aren't words great enough to ease your pain. Turn to the Lord on your hard days he is always there. God be with you until we meet again.

To the Dear Jensen family, We have so many memories and so much love for your family. Being part of the gang of friends in White City has been such a blessing in my life. The Jensen family has always had a great influence on me, and my family. Jerry was always the first one to help anyone out. He was always so focused in this life and he knew what he wanted. He must have known that he had a lot to accomplish here in mortality. You could always count on Jerry to make you smile, and he wanted to make everything right for everyone he knew. He truly is a choice son of our Heavenly Father, and I am so grateful that he touched my life. His dear wife is just as sweet. Our love and prayers are with all of you at this time. But what a priceless possession we have in the knowledge of knowing where Jerry is serving now. I can only imagine how sweet his reunion was on the other side. The veil is thin, and I know he will still watch over all of you. He is now preparing a way for you. May you feel the peace and comfort that only comes from our Father in Heaven, and may he bless you always.

President Jensen had a huge impact on the missionaries and members during his short time in Pennsylvania. I've never heard a president anywhere talked about with such love, admiration and devotion! I'm grateful I was able to hear his powerful message of missionary work, and his beautiful singing voice at a fireside. We visited afterwards and discovered he was good friends with my husband's cousin in Utah. He was so warm and sincere. I had not yet met any of his family, but our thoughts and prayers are with each of them. The Jensens will be remembered forever with love and appreciation in this mission.

Although I cannot say I knew President Jensen well, I can say that he touched my life, and the lives of many others during his Mission here in Pennsylvania.
I had the priviledge of attending a regional Boy Scout encampment a few weeks after his family arrived here. He addressed the camp full of fidgety young men on a sweltering August evening. His love for the youth, and his strong spirit were unmistakable... and then he sang for us. For that brief respite, no concern for the heat, humidity, bugs, or any other earthly matter intruded. It was a choice gift, from a great man.
I will miss him, and keep his family in my prayers.

I've been honored to know Jerry since my early years, I believe 5 or 6. In many ways I seemed to have followed in his footsteps, doing things he did shortly after he did them. He was exactly 6 months to the day older, but a grade ahead of me in school. We were immediate best friends when he moved into our neighborhood as a young boy through the time each of us were married. I've played all the games of youth with him, fought with him, played sports with him, camped with him, worked with him, sang with him extensively, performed with him, studied and prayed with him, dated with him. I've always known Jerry loved the Lord, even when as a youth he at times would try to make others think he was more rebellious than he really was. I always knew the Lord came first in his life. I loved him as a brother. I also knew how much he loved his beautiful wife and family and how much of a strength they were to him. They are all in my prayers.

Thank you President and Sister Jensen for being great friends and leaders of Sister Mather in the Harrisburg, Pennsylvania Mission. Though you were only there for a short time, she speaks very highly of your family. Since she is coming home from her mission on Monday, having fulfilled her full 18 months, she will miss the funeral services. She wanted to let you know how much she loves and misses you already. Her heart, as well as ours go out to you and your family. Thank you for taking care of our missionary while you served in Pennsylvania. May God continue to bless you and your family.

In the short time we had with President and Sister Jensen and their family in the Harrisburg Mission and Stake we came to know of their love and commitment to the gospel of Jesus Christ as well as their tremendous love of others. They are very "down to earth" people whose caring and concern for others is immediately recognized by all as sincere and genuine and that led to a tremendous impact on missionary, member and friends of other faiths in the short time they were with us...they will be missed!
Sister Jensen, know that our prayers and thoughts are with you and your family at this difficult time and we owe a debt of gratitude for the efforts and sacrifices you have laid on the altar in behalf of those of us here in the Harrisburg, PA Mission. Thank you and God bless.

I to am one of many people who grew up knowing Jerry. Even in our youth he was a leader and an example. Jerry was always the guy who was happy and had a smile that would bring out the smile in you to.
Not to long go while attending a funeral of another friend of ours, I told Jerry that I really felt he would one day be called as a General Authority. Instead he was called as a mission president where he had a chance to share his deep love for the gospel and his love for family and music. I have no doubt that Jerry would have been an outstanding General Authority.
As a Mission President he had the opportunity to allow his testimony to be manifested to so many and continue to inspire even now after his passing. Now I know that our Heavenly Father has a higher purpose for him.
Jerry was always a man of faith and hope. As one of the hymns frequently sung at missionary farewells states, I'll go where you want me to go dear lord, over mountain or plain or sea. I’ll say what you want me to say dear lord. I'll be what you want me to be.
I really believe that Jerry fulfilled every part of those words. Jerry will be deeply missed and my thoughts and prayers go to all his family and especially to the missionaries who have been serving with President Jensen. May you all be blessed by the hand of God and may the spirit and example of Jerry continue to guide and comfort you always.

My son is currently serving as a missionary in the Harrisburg Mission. Elder Darlington loves President Jensen. His spiritual growth and leadership has increased tremendously under President Jensen's loving guidance. I know this is a difficult time for your family. Maybe some comfort can come from knowing that our family, although we've never met him, will forever be blessed by the way he treated and loved his missionaries including our son. Please accept our sympathies and know that President Jensen's loving goodness is spread throughout the world from all those he came in contact with. God bless you.

Our family was blessed to know President and Sister Jensen and their family. We are sad to lose you after such a short time in PA. I will forever be grateful to President Jensen for his love of baseball that brought me and my family to the 2005 Little League World Series after living in PA for 12 years. What a great night. There will always be choice memories of President Jensen, his boys, Mary, Kelly and that night. Thanks. Janet, thanks for seeing me and Mary Sunday night. You are wonderful. You know President and I were born the same year, he served in the same mission as my brother and we were married in the same temple. I wish we'd had more time to explore all the similarities. God bless you. Remember there are many in PA who are ready and willing to help. Love, Bishop Pickett

President Jenson was the greatest man! He is soo much like our Savior, Jesus Christ. He was my stake president while I was growing up, and the love that he showed for each of us was unwaivering. He had such a kind voice and was always willing to sit down and talk with you. What a great example he was to everyone he came in contact with. I will always remember how special he made you feel, and how much love eminated from his spirit! He will always be remembered, and greatly missed.

Jerry touched our lives forever.
Jerry married my husband and I on November 5, 1999. It was our 6 year anniversary this year and we sat down and watched our wedding video last week and saw the love Jerry had for everyone and especially his wife, as he used his experiences and his beautiful relationship with Janet to help give us advice and direction in our marriage. We asked Jerry to marry us because of his strong influence and his passionate heart.
I know that Jerry lived each moment with no regrets and lived it to the fullest. He was and still is a huge impact in everyone's lives.
Janet, you and your family are in our prayers and we love you and are always here for you.

It was impossible not to like President Jensen. He was a humble and sincere man with an aura of greatness. Because of his humility, he gave you hope that you could make something of yourself as well. Because of his smile, he was your friend. Because of his testimony, he was a man of God.
He was invited to speak at our LDS scout camp last August. The heat was oppressive, his brow was moist, but his smile never waivered. That evening he touched the hearts and souls of everyone in attendance with his powerful testimony, his beautiful and resonant singing voice, and his love for the people of Pennsylvania and of the Lord, Jesus Christ. I echo what I have heard from many in attendance that night - I will never, ever forget that night and President Jensen.
I had the opportunity to work side-by-side with two of his sons, Nate and Austin, at a service project. I saw them at many of our stake activities and sat in classes with them. At all times their behavior reflected the strength and character of their parents.
Sister Jensen was frequently on her own to get five boys ready for church meetings, to help with talks in Primary, and coordinate activities of a busy family. Her service did not go unnoticed.
I had the opportunity to learn from President Jensen in many settings. His knowledge of the scriptures and of the gospel was exemplary. His love was genuine and undeniable. In the short time he was with us here in Pennsylvania he touched our hearts. One of our hymns states, "Each life that touches ours for good, reflects thine own great mercies Lord." My life has been touched for good by the Jensens. I am a better person for having known President Jensen.
I thank the Jensen family for their willingness to leave all that was good and comfortable in their lives to come to Pennsylvania. They are missed and loved and always in our prayers.

There aren't enough words to describe a man like Jerry, he was and is an example to all that knew him or will know of him. He was there for me when I was preparing for my mission, he helped me get a job with him, he sang at my farewell.
He showed us all what the pure love of Christ is.
I regret that I can't make it to the services, as I am in China this month. My prayers are with you.
It was an honor to know you Jerry!

Our family was shocked and deeply saddened to hear of President Jensen's passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time. My son was just one of the missionaries blessed to serve under President Jensen. He loved and admired him tremendously. He wrote an email on Monday. In it he wrote, "He loved me. He loved all the missionaries the same (way)." Thank-you for sharing your marvelous husband, father, son, and brother in the Lord's service. May your family be blessed and comforted by the Holy Ghost at this time of your great loss and always.

A goodbye note from Penny Christiansen Abbott
I was shocked and so heartbroken to hear what had happened to my little cute cuzin Jerry. And especially to learn from the same disease that took Uncle Stephen and Aunt DeOn
It took him so fast - I grieve for his wife Janet and their family, brothers and sisters and for Uncle Moyle.
I was the oldest granddaughter, he the the oldest grandson although 6 years younger (and with 3 granddaughters between)
I have many fond memories of Jerry, he was such a kind cute person, always smiling even as a little boy. But the one that is forever burned into my memory was when Jerry was about 7 or 8, and by then there were lots of little grandsons - at Grandma Christiansen's house - all the grandsons had blonde butch haircuts and would go outside and play army. Of course, Jerry being the oldest called all the shots, I guess he was the general. I remember me, Susie, Jeanette and Connie standing at Grandma's big kitchen window and the big front porch watchin them all run around doing their army thing and wondering .... I wonder why they think that's fun.
Four little girls - and Jerry confused us. Then more little boys and it got really confusing.
Looking at this picture I see Uncle Stephen, Aunt DeOn, Uncle Mac and Grandma and Grandpa's faces - I miss them all so much and will really miss Jerry.
Love,
Penny

Although I finished my mission in Harrisburg before President Jensen began his service, I still know and write to many of the missionaries who have served under him. All have mentioned the great impact he has had on the Harrisburg Mission. Here's some thoughts from Elder Kevin Moultrie, currently serving in Harrisburg:
"He was the best person I have ever known. He obtained all of the attributes of Christ. I love him a lot, and will miss him a lot...President Jensen always attributed his rightiousness to his wife, and her strength was very evident. She was great. I will miss the "Mission Family"..we should all consider ourselves privileged to have had the opprotunity to learn at the feet of President Jensen...President Jensen was prepaired to meet God."
