My first job as a sixteen year-old kid was working with Jerry at the zoo. He was also my math teacher at Kearns high school. He was a great guy, I learned a lot from him, and ended up a math teacher myself. I just retired after 35 years a couple of years ago.

Jerry was such a great co-worker! Easy going, funny, and ready to explain how thingsings worked. He taught me a lot, and I always appreciated his guidance. A great Zoobie!

I was working at Hogle Zoo when he took over from Mr. Anderson. He was so easy going in his excellence. Best summer job I could imagine.

My deepest most heartfelt condolences to Linda, Bryan, Shawn, Amber, Dakota and Chase. Jerry was a warrior in the face of some serious health struggles and yet I never ever heard him complain. You know, I can´t remember when we first met - in a meeting I guess. At least I don´t remember a formal introduction when I came to work at the Zoo in ´03. But soon Jerry and I would become more than co-workers, we became friends and compadres, bonding especially over our shared passion for golf. And we played often together. Boy, did we! Name a course from Wolf Creek in Eden to South Mountain in Draper and we played it. He was a lot of fun on business trips to Orlando and Atlanta, always choosing just the most perfect restaurants and of course, arranging rounds of golf on the most fantastic courses. He sure loved Hogle Zoo. And I loved him as my boss. He was always supportive and encouraging of me and the work I did for the Zoo. I will miss my friend Jerry.

I just checked my messages and learned about his passing and offer my deepest sympathies to his family. I remember him from the algebra classes when I was a sophomore and junior years and the computer science class I took from him in my senior year, He was a very friendly & outgoing teacher.

Hey, Linda -- so sorry to hear about Jerry. I taught with him for 11 years and breakfasted with him on Fridays on and off for about 30. Good guy and good friend. He'll be missed by us all.

We always had the best food adventures when we traveled to AZA conventions. Our group was in Atlanta, and we got kicked out of a restaurant because a girls with us had on Jeans. So Jerry found us another place, which turned out to be a better place. Also, driving with him was a real adventure. Lots of close calls, but a lot of laughs. Such a loss for all of us. He was a real friend and dedicated to the Zoo.

Dear Linda, I´m so sorry for your loss of such a wonderful, loving man. He was such a great Math teacher. He was so young and cute, all the girls at school had big crushes on him. Your obituary was so lovingly written. It helped us learn what an awesome man and husband he was. I´m happy the two of you had such an amazing life together and so sad that Covid took him from you. You´re in my prayers. Love, Debbie
