His biggest joy was spending time with his family. He is survived by Wife Trish, Sons Brandon (Tiffany and Brooklyn), Larry (Brandi), Tyler (Brittnee and Koda ), Daughter Montana, Mother (Sue), and Brothers Dan and Mark (Linda and Morgan, Marcus, Brianna, and Tori). John was preceded in death by his father (John). A celebration of life service will be held May 19th at Cottonwood Presbyterian Church [1580 East Vine Street (6100 so)] at 11:00. Trish, Sue, Daniel, Mark and extended Meier family. It is with tremendous sadness I write this condolence after just now hearing of Johnny's passing. I speak for the rest of the Viners' in saying we feel a huge loss. The Viners' and Meiers' probably have about 65 years of history between us. We've known you and loved you all of our lives. We enjoyed seeing everyone last summer when my mom and I came back to wish John goodbye. Your extended family is one to be proud of. My dearest memory of Johnny, and I don't know if you'd call it "dear", was capsizing our canoe on the Upper Iowa River when we were about 14 on one freezing cold Mother's Day. We all still talked about it last summer when we were there. There were many other memories. Our hearts are heavy at this time and wish all of you God's blessings and mercy.

trish and family,I am sorry for being selfish- I couldnt bring myself to talk to johnie- this kind of stuff isnt suppose to happen to guys like him- I am at remorse for words- what can be said- you would think the lord would take our evil- but i guess he has to balance it out and take our good- i have a hard time with that when i look around and see to much evil- all the excellant memories will never go away- if i could talk him into we would do it- but luckily his good sense usually prevailed- i have accepted a lot of deaths but having a hard time with any justification with this- the salt of the earth this guy was the mega mine of salt-forever cousin and friend love ya dana

Johannes,
Your personality was so contagious. My favorite thing about you was that you always lived life to its fullest. You are one of those fantastic people that can bring out the best in anyone. The world is now a better place because of your existence. I will truly miss running our 5k's together. Even though it may look like I am out there running alone, I know that you will be right there, running beside me.

and the stars, and the sun."

To Johannes' family:
My family and I share our deepest condolences. I worked with John at Dan's and we had similar experiences when we exited the company. John was a reference, support, and advocate for me when he didn't have to be. He went out of his way to help me several times. I enjoyed working with John! I remember the "ute pin" on his work uniform. I remember when "Tana" was born. He was so proud and happy. I also worked with Brandon and I know that John was always proud of him.Trish has always been awesome and kind. May God be with you all!

John, It was always a pleasure to work with you. You were fair, easy to get along with, always listened to and trusted me and my decisions, and I always felt you had MY interests at heart above your own. I wish we could have worked together longer, but life moves along :). You are a good man. Please rest in peace.

Trish,
I was so sad to hear of John's passing. When you came in to Dans a couple of weeks ago and talked with me about his illness I guess I didn't fully understand that he was going to pass on this soon. My heart breaks for you and the kids. He is an amazing man, and was a great boss. I remember when you found out you were going to have a baby.. how excited he was. And the glow in his face whenever anyone asked about her. May you and your family find peace and comfort at this difficult time.

To my cousin/brother may you RIP. I am so grateful that you were part of my life, although too short. I love this picture of you and Tana. She has your spunk and your love for adventures. I know she will miss you greatly, but luckily you left her with loving memories and values of her father. When I lived with your family in high school and all the summers I spent at your house before that you very much made me feel like the little sister rather than just your snotty/tomboy little cousin. I remeber us talking and hanging out last year when Uncle John passed. We talked about my dad and hanging out on the river collecting pop bottles. Your beer can collections, Working in the garden. Encyclopedia assignments given to us during the summer by your father, husking the homegrown popcorn. The Hovar family baseball games. The things Dana would get us into and the tree house. We walked around your parents house and yard remebering all the good times. I could go on but bottom line is I will forever cheerish those moments. You will be truly missed by all, but never forgotten. As you said the last time we spoke "It was great having you for family." Could not have said it better bro. Trish and Dan if you need anything or just need to talk do not hesitate to call. My heart and prayers goes out to the rest of the family.

To the Family & Friends of John,
My deepest sympathy & sorrow for the loss of such a great man. May God Bless and be with you through this tough time. He will be missed here at Excel Cabinets and I will miss talking sports with him.

May 16, 2012

Dear Trish,
I am so saddened with the passing of John. You two were so much fun to work with and become friends with. John was also an avid Baltimore Orioles fan, and we always had a wager on who had the better team, them or my favorite Cleveland Indians. He still owes me an afternoon of watching an entire Nascar race which he dispised. John, right now, the Orioles have the better record and are ahead of the Indians. So we will have to do it later.

My deepest condolences,
Maunie James

Johnny, you bring back a lot of memories for me. From Orchard Hill to Peet to CFHS to UNI. The famous Meier magazine collection(Dan & Mark will know). The mean German Shepard you had that hated me. The VW car you were always working on. The same VW that we had to park on a hill at CFHS to push and pop the clutch to get it started. Sneaking out the family car and driving around the block with just our learners permit. The senior CFHS parties held out in New Hartford. The ski trips to Minnesota with John Riley. Those were the days.

My deepest sympathy to your family.
Rest is peace.
