Karie Maez Obituary

Our hard working and fun loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, and sister, Karie Ann LaBronte Maez passed away July 13, 2012 in West Valley City. She was born in Salt Lake City on March 3, 1958. She married John Fredrick Maez on December 22, 1991.
Karie loved her children and grandchildren, and she truly enjoyed going on cruises.
She is survived by her husband; children, Shanda, John, Daniel (Kristen), Savannah, and Nathan; 4 grandchildren, Chase, Hailey, Michael, and Bracken; mother, Geraldine Mills LaBronte; 2 sisters and 3 brothers.
Funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 2840 S. 9000 W. Visitations will be held Monday 6-8 p.m. at Peel Funeral Home, 8525 W. 2700 S., and Tuesday 9:30-10 a.m. at the church. Committal: Pleasant Green Cemetery. I regret the fact that me and Karie lost touch with each over the years but I always thought about her and would run into her off and on at the Shopko and we would chat and do a quick catch up on life. I am so saddened and shocked of her passing. My love thoughts and prayers go out to all of her family. I will always have wonderful fun memories of our times together. Sandy (Craig)

I Just Want To Say What A Fun Loving Beam Of Light Karie Was. I Had The Good Fortune Of Getting To Be A Roommate With Her Several Years Ago At The Hidden Villa Apts.On West Temple. We Had Alot Of FUN Together.She Was The Type Of Person You Could Talk To About Anything. She Will Be Greatly Missed.I Admired Her Always Working Hard And Having Fun At The Same Time. I haven't seen Karie in over fifteen years and had lost track of her but i can remember my early teens visiting her and her family with my sister Sandy which was her best friend at the time way back when her sister Tammy was badly burned in a car accident and i wanted to tag along with my sister and her, and during that time i was getting to know her and her family, we worked together at the original Ice Burg Drive in on 3900 south 900 east, and one day we got into a little spat and i started throwing fruit at her and we really got into it, i remember walking fifteen miles home just in time for her to pull in the drive way, yes she was mad and she had all kinds of fruit dried in her hair, i was mad but i had to laugh at what a mess i had made of us both and that i had lost my job, but it sure was fun to have that fruit fight and she never forgot it but i still laugh to this day.
I want to offer my sympathy to all of her family and wish you all the comfort god can give at this time.

Karie was a unique light that shone brightly on the night shift at L-3 Communications. Her bright smile, cheerful countenance, loving acceptance will be her memorable legacy for all. Karie always sought to bring hope and happiness to all she encountered. She is missed by her co workers and will be remembered dearly.

Miss Karie's extended family at L3 are all shocked and saddened by her passing. Just last week her contagious giggle and smile made me smile as she talked about her upcoming cruise, how well her life was going and just all around well being. You never seen her that she didn't break a smile to say hello, even if she was in a hurry. We will miss her, but cannot imagine the emptiness her family feels at this time. Please know how much she was loved and respected, and keep that close to you until the time it doesn't hurt so bad to remember her.

I was so sad to hear the news of Karie's passing! So many memories I have growing up and playing at Shandas house and having sleep overs and Karie was always so sweet and nice! I knew Karie from work when she was going through a personal struggle and I watched her come out of it changed, but better. I willreally miss chatting with her.
