Maria H. Altman 1915 ~ 2007 Maria Heidemarie Huber Altman passed away April 9, 2007 from causes incident to age after suffering more than 14 years the ravages of Aggressive Alzheimer disease. She was born March 9, 1915 in Markersdorf, Nieder, Austria to Johann and Karoline Bachinger Huber. Married Maximilian Johann Altman on December 24, 1941 in Darmstadt, Germany. He preceded her in death in 1997. In 1957 they, along with their young son, came to America, becoming citizens in 1969. Maria loved music and singing and was a member of Harmony (German Choir) for a number of years, enjoying the many friends she made and socialized with. Survived by one son, Harold (Linda) Altman, two step grand-children Michael (Traci) Harper, Terry (Barbara) Harper and six great-grandchildren, Kira, Kevin, Jacob, Nathan, Kylie, and Eric. We were fortunate to be able to help her remain in her home, where she was most happy, until 10 months ago when we could no longer care for her. We wish to express our most sincere appreciation to the friends and staff of Midtown Manor for their compassionate care and for the loving help and counsel given by the staff of Affinity Hospice for making her final months comfortable.
