Sheldon Taylor Obituary

Sheldon Taylor 1955 ~ 2009 My beloved eternal partner and our dearly cherished father passed away on November 13, 2009, in an accident due to unforeseen medical conditions.Sheldon was born in Panguitch, Utah to Talmage and Veniece Taylor. He attended high school in Delta, Utah and eventually moved to Salt Lake City. He served an LDS mission to Minnesota and graduated from Brigham Young University in business and communications. He married the love of his life in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on August 29, 1985. Sheldon was a wonderful, gentle soul who was loved by many and loved all. He was an amazing example of all that is good, kind and right with the world. His smile would light up a room and he loved to make life fun. Most of all, Sheldon loved the Lord and he loved his family. They truly are the jewels in his crown. He sincerely believed that no success would compensate for failure in the home. He was a faithful servant of God. Simply put, Sheldon was a man with no guile. He is survived by his wife, Jennifer Larsen Taylor, his three incredible children, Alex, Nick and Shelby, his parents and sisters. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 19, 2009 at 12:00 noon at the Crescent Ridge Stake Center, 1265 East 11000 South in Sandy. A visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East 10600 South in Sandy. A visitation will also be held Thursday from 10:45 - 11:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. Online condolences welcomed at www.larkincares.com In lieu of flowers, donations can be made at any Wells Fargo Bank to the Sheldon Taylor Memorial Fund. I love you sweetheart.

Tonight, having just learned of Sheldon's death, my mind floods with joyful memories of Sheldon and regrets for having let time and distance dull a friendship. Sheldon is an excellent example of a loving person, one who is filled with charity. May the Lord bless all who have been deprived of his spirit, especially those of his family. I'm grateful to have kept Sheldon company on road trips from Provo to Delta and had the opportunity to listen to him sing along with the radio, while he thought I was sleeping. Good-bye for now friend.

I was one of Jennifer's missionary companions in Taiwan. She and I have reconnected recently, but I am sad that I did not get to know Sheldon. What a beautiful tribute to him -- I can feel of the love for and from him. God bless you all.

Dear Taylor Family,
I also knew Sheldon in High School. He was a great guy and always had a joke or smile for everyone. He was a good dancer and was the lead in the School musical of "The King and I" He did a great job. I haven't seen him or met your family but you must be great! It was a shock to hear of your loss. My prayers and thoughts go out to your family.

Dear Taylor Family;
I met Sheldon on the phone at Investools about three years ago. When I called the coaching line I was fortunate that he was the one that answered- He made a big impression on me, as he was so helpful and encouraging!

Although it's been some time since we've spoke, the impression that he made on me has lasted-

My heartfelt condolences to you; Jennifer, Alex, Nick and Shelby..

I worked with Sheldon at Investools. He always made me feel like a part of his immediate circle of friends. As a convert to the Church, and far away from my own family, he was kinda like my dad. We had many conversations, most were about family and our church experiences. He made a big impression on me and I will miss him.

I knew Sheldon when I was a Coach at Investools. He was always very kind even when he experienced frustrations with management he was poised and gentle. The world is missing a great example and a wonderful person. May your grief soon be replaced with laughter and wonderful memories. May the comforter be your companion at this difficult time. You are in our thoughts and prayers. God Bless,

Dear Taylor family,

I remember Sheldon from Novell and recall him as so many have described him. A few years ago I ran into him when we were both changing jobs, and I remembered again what a pleasant soul he had always been.

May the joy of the life that you have shared, and the memories that you made together, sustain you through this extraordinarily difficult transition.

To Jennifer and the kids: Please know of our sincere love for your family and our sincere condolences for your loss. Sheldon did great things in mortality and will continue doing great things. As you know, life is eternal. Death does not terminate our existence. The greatest joys of married life, the choicest relationships between parents and children can be carried on beyond the grave. Again, know that there are many who hold you in their thoughts and prayers. Patrick & Adele Casaday

I only knew Sheldon as an instructor and coach with Investools. (I am a student.) Because of the relationships we have with each other, it feels like we have lost one of the family. My heart and prayers go out to the family. May God encircle you all in his loving arms.

As President Sorensen would say, "Sheldon Taylor was a rock steady" kind of guy. His word was as good as gold, it was money in the bank. If he told you he would do something, you can bet it would be done, and done in a first class way. The world is missing one of its greatest men.

Sheldon thanks for saying "you did great". Thanks for saying "you know as much about this as I do". Thanks for standing up and saying "there has got to be a better way". Thanks for not accepting overbearance, selfeshness, and pride. Thanks for making work a better place.

Dear Jennifer, Alex, Nick and Shelby,
I was deeply saddened by the loss of your wonderful Sheldon (and father). He was truly a special, gentle giant. He will be greatly missed by all of you and by the hundreds of friends he has. This sudden tragedy is most difficult for all of you and a great void in your lives. Know that because of his great love for you, he will be near by. Our Heavenly Father must have a very special work for him to do on the other side. Keep faithful and strong and know of the love of all who know you and Sheldon.
My prayers are with you.
Love,

Sheldon was not only our classmate he was our icon! I can't think of our class and not think of Sheldon. From his "stupid magic tricks" to the "juicer" he was there in every assembly. His talent for dancing made him ever so popular with all the girls whenever a Prom or a Ball rolled around. His pure, non-judgmental way of looking at the world made it easy for us to take advantage of his listening ear. He truly was one of the kindest, coolest, wise beyond his years guy I knew in high school. I only had a couple of opportunities to talk with Sheldon over the years since high school but I am convinced he stayed that way.

My heart breaks for you and your family Jennifer. I hope it brings you some comfort knowing how much he was loved by all of his classmates. Your family will be in my thoughts and prayers and may the Lord comfort you and give you peace to help get you through this difficult time.

Sheldon was my boss at CommComm. He was fun to work with and what I admired most was his Integrity. That was not something many people at this business had--so it was very refreshing to see someone stand up for what was right. I will always remember him for that.

I worked with Sheldon at Investools and met him the very first day I started back in 2007. He had such a warm spirit about him and a loving and gentle manner. Several times a week I would walk out of the break room and as I turned the corner I would see that great smile coming down the hall. Never once did I see him but what he didn't say hello and ask how I was. He will be greatly missed among those of us who had the great pleasure to know and work with him.

My husband Brian worked closely with Sheldon and always came home with very nice stories about him. We also came to find out Sheldon's father is my paternal grandfather's cousin. I met him only a couple of times and I considered him a gentle giant! Such a kind man with a pure heart. A wonderful example to us all. When I heard the news about his accident and death I was in shock and so very, very sad for his wife and his children. I pray for your comfort. I have found it very difficult to accept the loss his family, friends, and associates feel. My heart goes out to you. With sincere love,

This was a fine man. I knew him as a missionary in Minnesota and he was the best. I have seen him only a few times since then, but he continued to be concerned and vibrant and full of good humor. Jennifer, Alex, Nick and Shelby, I am sure you will miss him dearly. We are praying for you.

One memory you might enjoy. During the weeks before Christmas, several missionaries found they were missing things, like maybe a shaver and I couldn't find my scriptures. When we had the half mission conference, skinny and tall Elder Taylor appeared in a Santa suit to give us "gifts" which turned out to the be the things we had mysteriously "lost". He made a good Santa!
