Mando and I played on a championship team who may have gone all the way to state. Mando and I were defensive backs and we were ranked 6th in the state of Texas in defense in 1983. Mando was a kind and honest person who left this world too soon. He will always be remembered and as long as we speak his name will never be forgotten.

Mando....you were in my thoughts over the weekend and upon finding out that you have been called by the Lord, I am saddened. I know that we didn't keep up with each other since our earlier USAA days, but I will never forget our friendship and your positive attitude. As for Yolanda, please be strong and know that we have a loving God that we somehow have to find the strength and faith to understand his will. Yolanda.....if you need anything, please let me know. My deepest condolences on Mando's passing. I have known the Pena family for many years, coaching Mando in baseball during his teenage years. Such a good person and how he loved his sports. This is a difficult time, but continue to lean on the Good Lord for comfort. Good Bless! Bryan Krnavek (six five)

Yoli, you and the kids are in my prayers. For 10 years Mando and I worked together and he made me laugh daily. His skills and talent will be greatly missed at USAA and for me, the light just got dimmer. My best friend at work is gone and I will keep his memory alive. If you need anything, I am just a call away. He will be missed.

Sincerely,
Larissa Thomas

We were very sadden to hear the news about Mando's untimely death. Our hearts go out to Ralph and Norma and Mando's wife and children. May God continue to keep all of you in his hands as you navigate through this very difficult time in your lives. The loss of a child is very painful, but you do learn to live with it. There will not be a day you will not think about your son, but the memories will help you get through it. Rest in Peace Mando.
