Gordon Compton Obituary

Col. Gordon B. Compton, Sr., USAF 81, retired McConnell Air Force Base commander fighter pilot, died Thursday, February 6, 2003. Visitation with family, 3:00 to 5:00 P.M., Sunday, February 9, 2003; Service 1:00 P.M., Monday, February 10, 2003, both at Resthaven Mortuary. Col. Compton was a P51 Fighter Ace in World War II. Survivors: wife, Frances of the home; sons and daughters-in-law, Bryan Jr. and Glenda of Overland Park, Tom and Nancy Compton of Wichita, Joe of Wichita; daughters and sons-in-law, Jane and Sonny Joseph of San Antonio, TX, Katy and Layne Carter of Wichita; grandchildren, Cash and Laura Miller, Ethan Miller, Casey and Matt Barbour, Ann Compton, Chet Compton, Dan Compton, Matt Compton, Jenny Compton, Mallory Compton, Jordan Carter, Britt Carter; great-grandchildren, Mason Miller, Avery Miller, Hailey Barbour. Memorials established with Parkinson's Foundation and Daedalion Scholarship Fund. Memorials: Parkinson's Alliance-211 College Rd. East-3rd Fl., Princeton, NJ 08540 and The Daedalion Foundation, sponsor of the Daedalion Scholarship Program which recognizes scholars who indicate a desire to become military pilots and pursue a career in the military.
