Irma Stewart Obituary

Irma Guajardo Stewart
March 13, 1941 - December 29, 2024
Irma Guajardo Stewart entered her eternal rest on December 29, 2024, at the age of 83. Born and raised in San Antonio, Irma graduated from Providence High School and dedicated nearly 50 years of her life to serving others, retiring from civil service in April 2010 after a distinguished career, most of which was spent at Wilford Hall Medical Center.

Irma's greatest joy in life was the love and support she shared with her family, friends, and all of God's creatures. Whether hosting gatherings, feeding birds and wildlife, or preparing her delicious potato salad, she made sure those around her were always well cared for and having a good time. Irma's generous spirit and unwavering kindness touched many lives, and her legacy of love will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

Irma is survived by her loving husband of 38 years, Lynn Stewart; sons Brant and Craig (Kaye); granddaughter, Kennedy; goddaughter, Laura Sanchez LeBlanc (Al) and her kids Sierra, Joshua and Sidney; as well as numerous other people who she cared for.

So very sorry to hear this news. Irma was an amazing person that loved life and just made everything better whenever she was around. I was very fortunate to work with her at Wilford Hall Medical Center. It was a wonderful time.

Grief can be so hard, but our special memories help us cope. Lynn, I am so, so sad to have heard that my dear friend has passed in the newspaper. I am so saddened and in shock. I met Irma in 1962 when she came for her first interview in the Mental Health Department at Wilford Hall. We have been friends throughout all the years. I received a birthday greeting card from her describing me as I would have described her. Her passing must have been unexpected. She loved life, she loved her "furry family'" and you, Lynn. I am just lost for words. Please accept my deepest, heartfelt condolences. May she rest in the arms of our loving God.
