Isidro Reyna Obituary

August 15, 1957 - March 8, 2015
Isidro Ray Reyna Sr., fondly known to family and friends as Chumpy, passed away March 8, 2015, following a hard-fought battle with cancer. He was 57. Born in San Antonio, Texas, on Aug. 15, 1957, Chumpy worked hard to provide for his family and create a wonderful life for his two sons. A 1976 graduate of Wheatley High School, Chumpy's studies in auto paint and body shop propelled him to a steadfast career in the automotive industry. He enjoyed antique cars, particularly the 1932 Ford Model A. A selfless individual, Chumpy requested privacy throughout the duration of his illness; thankfully, God ensured he left this world peacefully with his immediate family by his side. Chumpy was preceded in death by his father Martin A. Reyna Sr. He is survived by his sons Isidro Ray Reyna Jr. and Alex Michael Reyna (Jessica Najarian), mother Pauline Flores Reyna, brother Martin A. Reyna Jr. (Diana), and sister Irene Garcia (Pete). A celebration of life service will be held at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home on Sunday, March 15, at 4 p.m., 6321 Bandera Road in San Antonio. While tears are undoubtedly expected, the intent is to celebrate Chumpy's life, share memories, laugh and smile.

Alex,

Having lost my father at a young age, I can attest the pain is indescribable. I can also say that over time, God heals the hurt and recycles it to help others. From reading your father's obit, it seems he was a man full of life and love. I pray the character and integrity he embodied be carried on by you and your brother. You both carry his name and you carry his DNA. Allow no malice or strife to impede your ability to be the loving, god-fearing men your father raised. God's call is for us to live on this planet and to make good with the time he allots and the things he allows us to accumulate. Nothing is more important than loving each other and loving God by our actions. I pray for you and I will cry with you but most importantly, when the dust settles, I'll be here for both you and Isidro. Pray for peace that surpasses all understanding and God will grant it to you. My sincerest condolences on the loss of your patriarch. He's at peace.

My condolences to every one in the family. I haven't been home in a long time, but the last time I saw him he had a smile that reminded me of the old days. Man, I wish we could go back in time. May his soul rest in peace. Much love from the Caez family (Jackie, one of Lupe's daughters) in San Diego, CA.
