Jairo Ramirez Obituary
July 22, 1938 - December 12, 2023
Jairo Ramirez, M.D., a respected cardiologist and beloved family man who enthusiastically embraced life, went to be with the Lord on December 12 at the age of 85.
Born in the small town of Giradot, Colombia on July 22, 1938, to Jose Ramirez and Sagrario Lozano Ramirez, Dr. Ramirez was one of six children. He graduated from Universidad Nacional de Colombia in Bogota with his medical degree in 1965. While there, he met a pretty candy striper, Teresa Gonzalez. They married in 1967 and moved to Louisville, KY, where Dr. Ramirez honed his skills in cardiology and internal medicine at the University of Louisville and was appointed a professor of cardiology.
In 1980, he purchased a private cardiology practice at Rosa Verde Towers at Santa Rosa Hospital and relocated to San Antonio. During his illustrious career, he also served patients at Methodist Hospital, Texsan, Uvalde Memorial Hospital and University Hospital before retiring in 2020. He was known around local hospitals for his early morning rounds and his ability to perform a cardiac catheterization in record time.
Most importantly, Dr. Ramirez loved his family. Fondly called "Papis" by his grandchildren, Dr. Ramirez is survived by his wife Teresa, daughter Adriana Felts and husband Rusel, daughter Claudia Ramirez and wife Brandi Jo Newman, son Mauricio Ramirez and wife Maili. His cherished grandchildren include Hannah, Katie and Sara Felts, and Rachel, Jake and Ella Ramirez.
A celebration of Dr. Jairo Ramirez's life will take place in early January as family and friends pay tribute to a beloved cardiologist with a heart of gold.

My condolences to his family , I first met dr Ramirez over 30 years ago when he was the doctor that took the earliest time slot in the cath lab and was always early . He was a kind man and was respectful to all. He will truly be missed .
