LILY SKINNER Obituary

Lily Pape Skinner, born in San Antonio, TX, passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home of 61 years to be with the Lord at the age of 94. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Lillie (Dykman) Nagel, her brother Arthur Nagel, her first husband, Gus R. Pape, and second husband Hank Skinner. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, devout Christian, and friend to many. In 1965, she helped her husband, Gus and his cofounder, Gene Dawson launch Pape-Dawson Consulting Engineers, now one of the largest civil engineering firms in TX. She led an active church life at the Alamo Heights United Methodist Church, was a member of the Thirsty Girls, a group of women who studied the bible and actively integrated faith into their daily lives. She found joy and contentment in her relationship with God. She was a student of art and history and served over 20 years as a docent at the San Antonio Museum of Art and was named docent emeritus. She loved learning, travelling the world, gardening, and spending time with her family at her ranch in Medina. Lily is survived by her children, Dennis R. Pape (Eveline) and Brian O. Pape, and five grandchildren, Reagan, Joel, Kiah, Ian, and Natalie. A service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Mon. Oct. 18th at Alamo Heights United Methodist Church.
