Coach Cook was my P.E. teacher at O'Farrell, '59-'62. For an impressionable, 12 year old kid, he had such a commanding presence with his height and that calming, deep voice. He was the essence of cool back when that word was used to define someone of substance. I liked him a lot. Now, 55 years later, I regret that I never got to see him as an adult and tell him so. I am sorry for your loss. RIP, Coach. You are missed.

My thoughts and prayers go to Willie and the family. I enjoyed working with Al over the years when I was with the School Police division. He was very fair and professional in dealing with staff, students and parents. He was a fun softball and basketball player to oppose in games.

From all the members of the 1990 USA Yesterday Basketball team that toured Europe, we send our love and condolences to family and especially Willie. Even before 1990 Al Cook was my mentor who sent me into the field of education and the coaching profession. In 1966 at O' Farrell Jr. High School, he set an example for me that I still feel helped me get where I am today. We love you, Al! Robert and Cindy Holm

I was privileged to work for San Diego Unified while Al was at the District Office. He was always supportive to me as a young teacher and lead by example. Rest In Peace!
