Rodriguez, Antonio (Tony) SAN DIEGO -- Antonio Rodriguez was born December 16, 1924 in Los Angeles, California and passed away on February 23, 2014 at home surrounded by his family. Antonio joined the US Army in 1943 serving during World War 11 and was discharged in 1945. Antonio returned to San Diego and married the love of his life, Anita. Antonio and Anita shared 67 wonderful years together and had five children: Richard (Mimi), Tina (Steve), David, George (Peggy), and Greg (Olivia). Antonio had ten grandchildren and five great-grand- children. Antonio worked for the San Diego City School for 30 years and spent additional time working as a Security Guard for both the Del Mar Fair and Del Mar Thoroughbred Club. He also volunteered his time at the American Sign Language and San Diego Prison system. During Antonio's life, he had many hobbies and interest, he played handball and racquetball. He enjoyed camping, biking, and daily walks with his dog at Mission Bay. Antonio was a beloved Husband, Father , Grandfather and Friend. He was adored by his family and will be greatly missed. Services will be held on Monday, March 10, 2014 at 11am at St. Mary Magdalene Church, 1945 Illion St., San Diego, CA 92110. Burial to follow at 2:30p.m., at El Camino Memorial-Sorrento, 5600 Carroll Canyon Rd., San Diego, CA. 92121.

I met him when he and Anita took Angel Cardenas ( my nephew) in their home when he was going to school. He was a great, considerate, caring, good hearted man. God bless him always. I will always be grateful for everything he did.

I had the privilege of serving Antonio Holy Communion at home over the past year. We had many long discussions and formed a warm friendship. What a wonderful man.
