Ellen Elizabeth (Ward) Griffiths 1919 - 2015 EL CAJON It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Ellen, 96, on July 14, 2015. She was born in Duluth, MN where she lived with her Swedish born parents until the early 1940's. She married her Duluth sweetheart, H Gordon Ward, a US Marine MSgt, and moved to San Diego, where she resided for over 71 years. Ellen was known to many and a friend to all. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star for 60 yrs and took great pride in her children's Job's Daughters and DeMolay affiliations, as well as her many volunteer activities in support of her family. Ellen managed the El Cajon Employees Credit Union until her retirement when she enjoyed traveling with her beloved husband, Tom Griffiths. She is survived by her loving children, Susan Rennert (Gary) of Idaho, Thomas Ward of San Diego, and Jeffery Ward (Elizabeth) of Ohio; grandchildren, Kristin Twiggs (Jared) of WA, and Justin and Eric Ward of San Diego; great-grandchildren, Kira, Brennan, Annika and Zane Twiggs of WA; nieces, and a nephew; many cousins in the US, Canada, Sweden and friends worldwide. Ellen joined her husband Tom at Ft Rosecrans National Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 14, 2015 at 10 am at Shadow Mountain Community Church, El Cajon, CA where Ellen spent many peaceful moments. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to the church in her name, or remember Ellen with a "random act of kindness" and a smile.
