Dear Gerry,

You have been gone for 2.5 years, but you are still in my heart and thoughts... Think of you often.... miss you my dearest friend.

Ms. Ferraro,

I first met Jerry in 1980 just after he had made foreman. I was a new hire and he was my second foreman at the depot. He was a good man to work for then and in every other position he held. I was privileged to work for and with him in many other positions as both of us moved up in the NADEP organization. I considered him a friend and in many ways a mentor. He was one of the few people who understood that business is business and that all business is personal. Each business decision has personal ramifications and he never forgot that.

Jerry coined the phrase Slowgistics when he talked about Logistics and Logistians. I am a logistian but I never took offense, I knew he was just being Jerry. I always enjoyed working with Jerry and I will miss him and his jokes, even the terrible ones.

Sharon and Family,

Gerry was truly a great person. He was always was there with a helping hand. He was the happiest we've ever seen him when he met you and got married. His generosity was incredible. When I first returned to NI from Dayton, OH, Mike was still in Ohio and I was about to close on the house we purchased. My mother passed away and I was devastated. Gerry took his time to go with me to the walk through and make sure all of the details were taken care of. I was so grateful. This is friendship that is hard to find. We will all miss Gerry. Our heart goes out to you and your family.

Sharon and family,

My friendship with Jerry went back to 1986 when a mutual acquaintance introduced us here at the Island. My memories of him are that he was intelligent, funny, and a genuine friend. My sympathies at this time of loss but take heart in that you will most assuredly be with Jerry again one day. Remember that this is not "goodbye", it's "see you later". God bless you.

I want to personally thank each of you for your prayers, flowers and notes. I have enjoyed reading all your comments here in the guest book and to see how Jerry touched your hearts. Also, I want to thank all of you who came to the memorial service. We had over 300 people there. What a beautiful tribute to Jerry and his memory. Jerry was a wonderful husband and my best friend. He always could make me laugh and I miss him so much and I feel so lost without him, but I know he's with God now and that gives me comfort. God Bless all of you for the support you have shown to me and to his family. Jerry touched all of our lives with that special way he had about himself.

Sharon,

I am truly sorry for your loss. As you know Jerry and I worked closely together for many years as I served as the National President of the Superintendents Association. Jerry Was the 1st Vice President and the business relationship developed into a wonderful friendship. I too feel a deep loss at his passing. My prayer is that God will grant you His love, peace and comfort as you deal with this loss. Jerry and I shared many conversations about our strong faith. I know too from those conversations of your faith. We should draw on the assurance we have, as God's children, of eternal life and that Jerry now stands in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ. I will always remember the night you, Jerry and I went to dinner in San Diego and the wonderful conversation and enjoyable evening together. May God continue to bless and smile upon you.

Sharon and family. . .It has been an honor to know Jerry. I was his Deputy when he was the E2/C2 Aircraft Product Manager at North Island. He was firm, passionate, uncompromising, but fair. We've had our disagreements on how we were to proceed in our business, but we always walked away as friends. We also shared our love for football but most of all we shared our love for Jesus. I will miss Jerry.

Jerry was one of my most respected friends here at North Island. I had the honor to work with Jerry several times over the past 20 years and he was always a professional, kind, and dedicated man. He worked hard at every project he was assigned and was a true example, to me, of a man I wanted to be like. To Jerry's Family: As the Team Leader for the E-2C and C-2A Fleet Support Team, I can tell you Jerry is missed so very greatly by the entire team. When you see news reports or happen to look up and see an E-2C Hawkeye watching the skies or see a C-2A Greyhound delivering to the carriers, you can know that Jerry was on the front line of Depot maintenance to keep them in the air! He will always be the "Hawks and Hounds" man! I can't think of anyone that cared more about our military forces and keep em flying than Jerry did! The aircraft Jerry touched will be flying out there until 2020 and possibly beyond. I know the Fleet has a new angel in heaven up there flying with them now! My thoughts and prayers are with you as you grieve the loss of such a wonderful person.

Sharon and Family,

I had the privilege of working with Gerry for several years. I always admired his dedication to his job, his ability to articulate and skill at motivating people. He was strong and someone you could trust to tell you the truth, no matter what it was. He was an outstanding leader and visionary. At his last days at the Depot, he moved to the office next to mine and he shared his ideas for his and my future. I looked forward to working directly with him again. I was on travel when he went into the hospital and the day I found out, I went to visit him. He looked good and was ready to go home. We shared the same passion for the Packers and this is all we talked about. I held his hand, wished him a speedy recovery, gave him a card from our NDMS team and asked him to call when he got home. Little did I know that within 30 minutes of my visit, he passed away. I am so glad I had this opportunity and will never, as long as I live, forgot the last moments we shared. He will be dearly missed!

Sharon,

I have lost a dear and close friend. He was always there to pick me up when times were hard. Once when people were telling me "get a life"...I really started believing that I didn't have life; Jerry was there to point out and help me see that I did have a life. I miss him now and will forever miss him.

I am here for you if you need me no matter what time of the day it may be...lesson learned from Jerry.

Love,
