PETER DONALD BARNES

BARNES, PETER DONALD Friday, July 13, 2012, Peter went home to be with the Lord. His final days were spent surrounded by the friends who were the Lord's family that came to know him as their brother in Christ. Born August 31, 1928, to William and Winnifred Barnes in London, England, Peter was certainly unique, with multiple gifts of memory, intellect and literary skill, along with the compassion and patience necessary to bring abstruse and difficult ideas into something digestible to the average person. His relationship with Jesus Christ began at age 50 as did his ministry. In 1981, Peter was officially ordained in the Baptist General Conference, and he received his Doctor of Divinity in 1994. He applied his gifts in the counter-cult ministry in which many came to know him and by which many were rescued from false religious teachings of all sorts. With this ministry he spared and rescued thousands of people from the prolonged pain of living without the joy of a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. His gifts were not lost in the ether of intellectual pursuits. Some of Peter's interests included travel to Austria and the Trinity Alps in Northern California as well as reading crime dramas and World War II history. His favorite sports were the Tour de France and Wimbledon. Peter also would never tire of the impromptu visits from people who would just like to drop in and talk for a while. A service celebrating his life and ministry will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 20, 2012, at Clairemont Emmanuel Baptist Church, 2610 Galveston St., San Diego, CA 92110.
