Stephen Nehamen Obituary

Steve was born and raised in Los Angeles. He attended U.C.L.A., studying accounting and later becoming a C.P.A. He practiced for a number of years before partnering in a retail music business that became a major national marketer in the industry. Years later, after leaving Peaches Records, he re-established himself as a tax accountant in the greater San Diego area.He had an enduring and loving union of 31 years with Sylvia, whose devotion carried him through the final two years of his life with cancer. He had previously married twice, in 1963 to Karen Windman of Los Angeles and in 1978 to Victoria Woodbeck, both without children. His greatest passions were music and art, collecting modern paintings which covered the walls of his home. His taste in music was eclectic, and he spent much of the last ten years of his life putting together a collection of thousands of songs, ones he meticulously classified and put into playlists so that he could listen to what he thought was the greatest music of any particular genre or artist. He maintained a sharp sense of humor even in difficult times.Steve had many longtime friends, and he was supported and encouraged during his illness with their support and love. Steve was a quiet and reserved man with a passion for promoting human equality and freedom. He wasn't the type to advocate publicly but his deep caring for his fellow humans could be felt by anyone he encountered.Besides Sylvia Salomon, he is survived by his brother Dennis and sister-in-law Bernice from Los Angeles; a niece, Sarah, and nephew, Craig. He passed away under the care of Kaiser Hospice at home on March 1, 2024.
