Kenneth Johnson Obituary

Ken Johnson The world has lost a truly great man and a wonderful soul. Kenneth James Johnson of Paso Robles passed away on December 13, 2016, due to complications from Frontotemporal Dementia (FTD). He was 56 years old. Ken was born in Waukesha, Wisconsin, the only son of five children born to Matsue and Ken Johnson, Sr., who met and married during the Korean War. Ken was proudly employed with Caltrans for 25 years in Southern California, the Bay Area, and most recently as an engineering technician in Paso Robles where he worked on the Highway 46 East project. He was intelligent, adventurous, a friend to all he met, and a child at heart with a corny sense of humor and an infectious laugh. Ken would have given the shirt off his back to anyone in need, and he was especially devoted to his family. He loved traveling, working on projects around the house, and loyally watching his San Francisco 49ers, but there were few things he enjoyed more than a game of poker, a cold Budweiser, good food, and spending time with family and friends. Ken will be forever missed by his wife Jenny Leinonen Johnson; his sisters Julie, Kandie, and Marcy Johnson, and Jennifer "JJ" (Patrick) Lynch; his stepmother Margie Johnson; his stepsisters Shadiah Shweiky and Sabah (Kamal) Smith; stepson Theissen Hall; nephews, nieces, in-laws, and countless friends and coworkers. He was preceded in death by his mother Matsue, his father Ken, Sr., and his sister Kathy Broderick. A private memorial will be held at a future time. Donations in Ken's memory may be made to The Association of Frontotemporal Degeneration at www.theaftd.org, to help find a cure for this horrific disease. ~ There are things we don't want to happen but have to accept, things we don't want to know but have to learn, and people we can't live without but have to let go. ~ Sign his guestbook at sanluisobispo.com/obituaries
