During the depression years, Bonnie's father worked in the silver and gold mines, moving the family throughout Missouri, Colorado and Idaho. The family moved to Nyssa, Oregon where he started in construction. In the summer of 1945, Bonnie stayed with family and worked at Hill Field Airforce Base in Ogden, Utah doing clerical and bookwork to help the family financially, WWII had just ended. Bonnie attended and graduated from Nyssa High School, Nyssa, Oregon. She met her future husband of 66 yrs, Donald H King through a blind date while he was home on leave from the Navy. They married the day after her graduation, May 14, 1946 in Caldwell, Idaho and honeymooned in New Meadows, Idaho, experiencing her first of many future camping and fishing trips. In 1961 the family moved to Santa Cruz from Vale, Oregon and Bonnie continued doing bookwork and actively working with her husband in Real Estate and construction. She worked for several years for J.C. Penney in marketing and advertising, creating all advertising layouts for the Sentinel. Bonnie always had a beautiful garden and had a surplus of canned dill pickles and tomatoes. She loved to travel, camp, fish and hunt and was an avid reader, especially anything to do with politics. After her husband, Donald passed in 2012, she moved to Dominican Oaks where she made many new friends enjoying Bingo, and refreshing her skills in Poker.
Bonnie is survived by her two children, Donald King (Wynne), of Ephrata, WA, and Deborah King Medina (Michael), of Santa Cruz, eight Grandchildren and 21 Great-grandchildren.
The family wishes to acknowledge the outstanding caregivers, Maria Morris, Ana Brown and Hospice of Santa Cruz.
