Services will be held in Santa Cruz on October 26th, for Claire Locke who passed away at a local convalescent hospital on October 13, 2013 following a lengthy illness. Born in Burlingame, California, Mrs. Locke would have celebrated her 78th birthday on October 18th. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Bruce Locke who died on June 12, 2013.
Claire grew up in Burlingame but after marrying Bruce, the love of her life, she moved often as the wife of a U.S. Marine. After retiring to Santa Cruz, in 1988, she and her husband enjoyed touring in their RV and sailing The Kalia. She will be remembered as a loving mom and grandmother, who loved, supported and guided her family until her battle with Alzheimer's took her. Fonder memories of Claire's bright wit and intellect, her talents for gardening and growing beautiful roses will be cherished as well as her love for dancing and music, which included everything from the Beach Boys to Rachmaninoff.
Mrs. Locke is survived by her sons and daughters in law; Glen and Judy Locke of Santa Cruz, John and Lori Locke of Missouri, Jeff and Lisa Locke of Fremont, CA; her son Alex Locke of Santa Cruz, her daughter and son in-law Julie and Mario Gullo of Ben Lomond, CA. and her eleven grandchildren and one great granddaughter. Friends and family will gather on Saturday, October 26, at Benito and Azzaro Pacific Gardens Chapel for a memorial service beginning at 3 o'clock p.m. A private committal at sea will be held at a later date.
