Resident of Aptos
Don passed away at home on August 13, 2012. He was born August 1, 1938 in Cullman, Alabama to John and Mary Stracener. When Donald was seven years old the family moved to Watsonville, CA. Don was a graduate of Watsonville High School and married his high school sweetheart, Barbara Beard of Aptos.
He was employed by Lone Star Industries in Davenport for 30 years and also worked for Kaiser Sand in Scotts Valley for eight years. Don had a great love of classic cars, camping and fishing.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Barbara Stracener of Aptos, his mother Mary Stracener Jackson of Watsonville, his sister Darlene Amark of Gilbert Arizona, his daughter Christine Stracener of Capitola, daughter Cathy Marshall of Nevada City, three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
A private family memorial is planned for a later date.
