Joseph Ramos Obituary

Joseph Ramos
March 8, 1968 - July 31, 2013
Resident of Seaside
Joe Ramos died suddenly July 31st while vacationing with his wife, Marnee, in Costa Rica. He was 45 years old.
Joe was raised in Aptos and graduated from Cal Poly with a Master's Degree in Architecture, specializing in Geographic Information Systems. He worked in a variety of jobs including 5 years in Hawaii working on a Disaster Management Project for the Federal Government. In 2002 he settled back in the Monterey Bay Area and worked for California State Parks and most recently for California Fish and Wildlife. He was totally dedicated to his work and was greatly appreciated by his co-workers.
Joe was a kind hearted friend to many, with a generous spirit and a contagious smile. He was devoted to his wife and his family and loved his role as "best uncle in the world". During the many gatherings of family and friends you could usually find Joe tending the barbecue, socializing with everyone, or playing with the kids. He enjoyed camping, fishing and all things outdoors, most especially golf. Joe was famous among friends for what they lovingly called "Joe Golf".
Joe is survived by his beloved wife of 7 years, Marnee Ramos, his mother, Donna Ramos and her husband Doug Brouwer; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Ann Marie and Chad Brazil and their children Jacob and Jonathan; Maggie and Dale Marentette and their children Sophia, Madeline and Chloe; his brother and sister-in-law, Jeff and Meagan Ramos and their children Gracie and Luke; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law Chris Cannon and Teena Price and their children Sean and Elias; his mother and father-in-law Bill and Sara Cannon; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Joe was preceded in death by his father, Bill Ramos.
A celebration of Joe's life is planned for September 29th from 2-6 pm at the Corralitos Padres Community Center at 35 Browns Valley Road in Corralitos.

I was so stunned to hear the news about Joe. Marnee, I am so sorry for your loss. While I was working in Monterey, Joe was always such a bright light. I never saw him get upset about anything, he always had something positive to say, and he was always willing to go above and beyond to help others. Joe loved life. He will be missed by more people than you can imagine.

I am sure I speak for the all of the Maui Ultimate Frisbee players who were fortunate enough to have met Joe when I say he had a wonderfully positive effect on our group. He was funny and supportive and I am so sorry I didn't get a chance to see him again since he left Maui. My condolences to his family.

Joe wrote most of this training manual in 1991.

I am deeply saddened to learn of Joe's passing. I was his advisor in the Nat Res Mgt Dept while he was an undergrad at Cal Poly and after that I hired him to work on several GIS projects. He and I also put on a GIS workshop for CA Dept of Fish and Game in Monterey on Aug 26-27, 1991. He was instrumental in making that happen.
Joe was easy to work with and always had a terrific outlook on life -- a delight to be around.
Joe, we're going to miss you, but we won't forget you!
