Resident of Watsonville
Patrick Henry Layhee, 94, passed away peacefully October 12, 2011, at home surrounded by family. Patrick was born in Dannemora, New York. He arrived in Watsonville in 1942 via the Army's troop train and was stationed at Camp McQuaide next to Sunset Beach. Patrick and Bernice Picanso were married in 1943, then off to war. Patrick returned from WWII with a field commission of Second Lieutenant , two purple hearts and stood Honor Guard for President Truman.
Patrick had a great 41 year career in the frozen foods industry and retired at 72. Patrick is survived by his wife of 68 years of marriage, 3 sons, 7 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren. Patrick lived and enjoyed a full life.

Private family services will be held. Arrangements are under the direction of Mehl's Colonial Chapel.
