Cleo Sebastian Obituary

CLEO B. GARRISON SEBASTIAN November 9, 1920 - October 10, 2014 Cleo B. Garrison Sebastian, a resident of Santa Fe since 1948, was born November 9, 1920, in Drexal, Burke County, North Carolina was sent to be with her Lord and Savior October 10, 2014, with her family by her side. She was the daughter of the late Charles Garrison and Fannie Mae Bollinger Garrison. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her three brothers Forest, Sherrill and Frank Garrison and her four sisters Lula Griffin, Edna LaFone, Myrtle Ramsey and Ollie Griffin. She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Marion Thomas Sebastian; daughter Terri Sebastian and brother-in-law Julius Sebastian; in addition to many nieces and nephews on both sides of the family. She was a distant member of Morganton First Church of God of Morganton North Carolina. Cleo was a homemaker, a talented seamstress and business woman. Along with her partner she founded and owned the Las Cosas Kitchen shop, which she operated until her retirement in 1989 when she sold the business. Cleo was a long term member of the Las Jardineras Garden Club and participated in the many fund raising projects that the club sponsored and supported for scholarships and community improvement. In the 1950's she was also one of the founding members of the Santa Fe Junior Woman's Club that was later incorporated into the Santa Fe Chamber of Commerce. She was a member of a Sewing Club whose members were composed of eight dear friends. Cleo was a woman of great intellect, integrity and compassion who lived life to the fullest. She enjoyed the Santa Fe Opera, gardening, was an avid reader, and an excellent cook. The family would like to thank all the compassionate caregivers and members of the Presbyterian Hospice who attended her during her latest illness. In lieu of flowers it is requested that contributions be made to the American Heart Association: 2201 San Pedro Dr. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87110. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 15, 2014, at 2pm at Berardinelli Family Funeral Service. Funeral service will be celebrated on Thursday, October 16, 2014, at 9am at Berardinelli Family Funeral Service with interment to follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
