Nathaniel Blaser Obituary

NATHANIEL WEST BLASER Nathaniel West Blaser age 21 passed away suddenly on November 29th, 2014 in Colorado. Nate was born July 8, 1993 and raised in Santa Fe. He attended Wood Gormley Elementary, Capshaw Middle School, and Santa Fe High, before leaving at age fifteen to begin ski racing in Park City, Utah for three seasons. He was living and working in Eagle, Colorado as a firefighter and first responder for the Eagle County and Fire Rescue Department at the time of his death. Nate was a lover -- he loved his family, his family at work, his friends, and the outdoors. Everyone who knew him loved him. There was a special place in Nate's heart for the brothers and sisters of the firefighting and emergency responders community, especially the Santa Fe County Fire Department, Eagle County Fire and Rescue, and, of course Hondo Fire and Rescue. Nate is survived by his mother and step-father Jill Benjamin & Ruskin Blankenship, father and stepmother Brian and Elaine Blaser, brother Simon Blaser and sister Campbell Brown; maternal grandparents Raphiel & Karen Benjamin and paternal grandparents Ruth Blaser of Fair Haven, New Jersey and Edward Blaser of Boynton Beach, Florida; grandparents Barbara and Ted Seeley, Ellen Alexander, Don Bell, Ronald and Victoria Alexander; uncles Raphiel Jr. (Pam), Richard Benjamin (Sera), Douglas Blaser (Pat), Robert Blaser, Thomas Blaser (Donna), Marcus Novak (Giselle), Nicholas Blaser (Kimberly), Lisa Cochran, Kathryn Alexander; cousins Dakotah and Faranak Benjamin, Luke Griscom, Alisa Currier, Chloe Benjamin, Lily Benjamin, Fallon Blaser, Curtis Blaser, Elliot Blaser, Sarah Blaser, Erin Blaser, Mackenzee Blaser, Bryce Blaser, Alexis Blaser, Kaiti Blaser, Stephen Foote, Tatianna Norbeck, and Kahlil Norbeck. He is survived by too many dear friends to mention. Nate touched everyone's life; he is greatly missed. The world has lost a phenomenal young man. There will be a memorial to celebrate Nate's life on Monday, December 8th at 2:00 pm at St. John's Church, 1200 Old Pecos Trail, Santa Fe, NM. We will also be celebrating his life in Gypsum, CO on Saturday, December 6th, at 10am at the Calvary Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations to Hondo Fire and Rescue would be greatly appreciated.

Didn't know him, but love and respect all firemen. I used to coach ski racing at Park City, wish I had known him.

I was heartbroken upon hearing of the passing of Nate. He was such a sweet and gentle boy. Mrs. Jones and I would joke that Nate was a true testimony to our teaching since he went back and forth between our classes from kinder through third grade. I will never forget him. My family and are praying that you will find strength and comfort during this time of grief. I am so sorry for your loss.
