I´ll miss my stepmom dearly and, am grateful she was a part of my life; she´s been an invaluable mentor to me and, many, many others. It was easy to get to know a person like Ramona who listens to you, who was always "present" with you and, who took the time to teach me things like driving. (The type of person who steps into your "world...") I´ll remember Ramona for her love of Plants, Native American Culture, Poetry and, Horses (Estrella). I still have the Dreamcatcher she gave me as a kid and, poems she wrote. She also gave me a Coleus when I was about 14 and, a few years ago I asked her to tell me the story (again) about how the plant was named "Anthony..." This is part of her text:

"I LOVED Grandma's plants and told her I try but all my plants die, she said the secret was to cut a piece of any plant I like, root it and pot it, it will bless the other plant and yours will grow. I was pregnant with Anthony when grandpa died and I was getting things together to take grandma to mom's and I took a piece of the plant she had in the bathroom. It grew throughout the years. We moved to mom's when Anthony was two and at that time it was the only plant I had, then when Anthony was 10 we moved to Pojoaque, it snowed so bad one year and the electricity was off for 24 hours and I had forgotten the plants, they all froze, I was heartbroken and I told my mom that my grandma's plant froze too, but she reminded me that Anthony brought the plant to her house because it was so big and he didn't think it would survive the drive to Pojoaque. She said my Aunt Corrine took it to her house until I went for it and she named it Anthony amongst all her own plants, I gave everyone a plant for Christmas one year..."

The Coleus will always remind me of Ramona...

2 Weeks ago today, you left us ALL here, on Earth, to continue without you. Today happens to be International Women's Day! You need to be celebrated for the Great Woman you were. Thank you for your LOVE! You were never stingy with it. Thank you for teaching me in so many ways, of what a STRONG woman looks like. You were my biggest Cheerleader! No one can take your place. God help us to learn from you and how you showed up for every and anyone who needed you. I thought you had done good in preparing me for this time, but I was wrong. I wasn't ready. I'm mourning my access to you. I know that you are feeling more LOVE than you've ever felt and I'm so happy for you to be free from the pain, but I will selfishly miss you on Earth with me, FOREVER! Until I see you again, I LOVE YOU Ramona!
