So sorry to hear the news of Jim´s passing. My wife and I stopped into his farm stand every year for over 30 years on our way home from the races to buy corn and other goodies. When our kids were born, he always gave them a free apple and a bag of popcorn on the house without fail. I asked him on one of my last visits if I could take a picture with him, he agreed only if I brought him back a copy which I did the following year. I´ve attached that photo, it´s brings back great memories for me. He was a kind man with a great work ethic and an awesome sense of humor. Our visits to Saratoga will never be the same without him. RIP Jim.

I grew up surrounded by old Italian men who spent their lives in the garden. Jim reminded me so much of my grandfather and I loved stopping at Valley Acres to buy plants and chat with him. Every year I would wait with anticipation for him to open, hating to think that each year might be his last. In 2019 he told me he was retiring but, to my delight, he was still there with plants and Christmas wreaths in 2020. His comment to me was “I’m still alive and I like doing it”. So grateful to have known him. There are so few left. RIP

We just learned of Jim's passing. My husband & I will miss going to Valley Acres. Every Spring around Memorial Day weekend we stopped in and purchased what we needed for our flower & vegetable garden. Jim was a very friendly man. Always there to help and to answer any questions. It was our pleasure meeting Jim. He will be missed. Rest in Peace Jim!

Your personal warmth, the good stories and horticultural advice you had to pass along, the great peaches and corn you carried, the summer flowers and holiday season wreaths, and even the good wines you made and gave away (despite acknowledging that you didn't even drink), all found there at the oasis shared with your Cecelia. Here's to you Jimmy; we'll remember.
