Betty L. Freas, 86 of Sterling passed away on Monday September 29, 2025.
Betty was born March 10, 1939 in Trenton, Missouri, the daughter of Walter and Letha (Wilkinson) Pilcher.
Betty's favorite pastimes were: reading her Bible, going to church, listening to gospel music, playing her guitar, crocheting doilies, helping others, sitting quietly in her swing, planting flowers, writing poetry, making people laugh, and playing with "Oliver." She said she felt a quiet sadness daily and never stopped missing those she had loved and lost.
She is survived by her daughter, Colleen (Tim) Berogan of Sterling; five grandchildren: Aaron (Rachel) Berogan of New Baden, Illinois, Alicia Berogan (Greg Rickerd) of Box Elder, South Dakota, Jeff (Kristina) Freas of Rock Falls, Illinois, Jason Freas (Amanda Zarecor) and Jennifer Freas (Anthony Torres)of Sterling; nine great grandchildren, Emery and Elyse Berogan of New Baden, Illinois; Angel, Conner, Kennedy and Jace Freas of Rock Falls, Illinois; Allie, EmmaLee and Jason Junior Freas of Sterling, Illinois.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Keith Freas, her son Brian, her brother Bill and her pets, Cole, Tarzan, and Oliver.
Visitation will be held on Friday October 3, 2025 from 10 - 11 AM at the McDonald Funeral Home & Crematory in Rock Falls. The funeral will follow at 11 AM. with Pastor Darlene Shoffner officiating.
A memorial will be established.
