Died: May 23, 2025 in Davenport, IA
Richard D. Hinton, age 81, of Tampico, died Friday, May 23, 2025 at Bickford Cottage in Davenport, IA.
Richard was born September 24, 1943 in Sterling, IL, the son of Reece "Bud" and Aldine (Hansen) Hinton. He married April Remy on June 24, 1967 in Manhattan Beach, CA. She preceded him in death on March 2, 2022. His education included several AAS degrees focused on System Analysis of Electrical Engineering. Richard retired from Frontier Communications as a C.O. Technician after 57 years of employment.
He is survived by his five children, Andrew (Carla) Hinton of New Liberty, IA, Jeff (Deann) Hinton of Tampico, Charles Hinton of Dixon, Jon (Traci) Hinton of Prophetstown, and Becky (Brian) Roy of AZ; one brother, Don Hinton; and five grandchildren, Elizabeth and Nathaniel Hinton of Prophetstown and Jacob Hinton, Samuel Roy, and Alex Ann Roy of Tempe, AZ.
He was preceded in death by his wife, April Remy Hinton; his parents; and his sister, Gloria Fulton.
A visitation will be held on Friday, May 30, 2025 from 10:00 – 11:00 AM at the Garland Funeral Home in Tampico. The funeral will follow at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Burial will be at Tampico Memorial Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to the Alzheimer's Association.
