Dear Connie and David, Our hearts are broken by the loss of Ryan. We can't even begin to imagine the pain you both feel. Ryan was always up to something and loved nothing more than to aggravate any and everybody, but we all knew it was always in fun. He always had that little mischievious twinkle in his eyes. I remember how he stayed so little for so long while Scotty and his other friends were growing like weeds. Several years ago the Posse ballteam were all sitting around on the bleachers and I stood up and Ryan stood up in front of me and said "Look Mrs.Bonnie, I'm as tall as you!" I was so proud and bragged about the fact that he grew so much. Well Edward Sasser was sitting there looking very unimpressed and he asked me "How tall are you?" I said almost 5"5 and the whole ballteam groaned and rolled there eyes. It didn't matter, it was still proud moment for our little Ryan. You know how much Scott enjoyed coaching him and he really loved that youngin'! We miss him! Love always, Scott,Bonnie,&Alaina.

Connie and David,
So many people were saddened by the news of Ryan's death. I can still see him sitting in my 7th grade first period class....with that mischievous sparkle in his smile. I will always remember that smile. I am so happy to have spent an afternoon with Ryan last summer. I can't imagine how one deals with this sort of tragedy but please know my prayers and thoughts are with you. There is so much work to be done with the young people in Effingham County and I know you will honor Ryan's memory by making a positive difference as will others who knew and loved him.

Connie & David,
There are no words to say that will help you at this time. Just knowing that Ryan is with God is a comfort. We have been friends along time and we have had some rough times together but we were there for each other. I will be there whenever you need and I will try and take some of the pain away. Time will not heal your loss, but it will help you through each day. Please know that you and your family are in my daily thoughts and prayers and only God and your faith can see you through this difficult time. Ryan is an "Angel" in Heaven looking down on us and enjoying time he is spending with his Grandfather. My Heather is with him also, so maybe they can take care of each other.
Love to you and David.

May the peace of God envelop you and all who were privileged to know your sweet boy. Time passes so quickly...it seems like only yesterday that I talked with Ryan in Stan Fox's driveway. Ryan has now taken his place in Heaven's choir of angels, alongside our other young people from Effingham who ventured there in recent years. Feel Ryan's peace as you seek to understand; let Ryan's love help to heal your wounded hearts.

Connie and family,
Somehow, I don't really know the right words to say. I can express sympathy and all the support that a friend can offer. I feel your grief, but can only imagine the extent that you both must feel it. I wish that I could take away just a portion of the pain of losing your son. It is hard to comprehend why things like this happen, but God must have a better plan for Ryan. Draw strength from those around you. Stay occupied. Connie, somehow, I envision you utilizing this whole thing as a teachable moment.
Be assured that you are in our prayers and that we are here for you no matter what your needs might be.

It came as a shock to be told that Ryan passed away. I thought back all the way to Kindergarten at South Effingham Elementary. I cannot tell you how many times we were both asked, "Are yall related?" "Are yall twins?" and sometimes when Brian Carter was standing beside us, all three of us were asked the same questions we have heard all throughout school. I left South Effingham High at the end of my ninth grade year, Ryan and I had a class together with the rest of our friends and we were still asked by our teacher were we related. It's amazing how you can recall the simple things in life after something like this. We have all lost a few friends lately and makes you think about how precious life and friendship are to us. Ryan will always be in our hearts and I will always remember the jokes and laughs we had throughout the ten years we went to school together. Ryan will be missed, but he is in a better place now.

The Carter Family: I have never been so shocked, as when I was told that Ryan was no longer with us. It is still so hard to believe. He was just at my home to see my
Son, Tony, a few days prior to his death. We talked and Tony was asleep and I remember telling Ryan, "Go on back there and wake him up as it is time to get up."
We talked about his education in the Navy. He wasn't my Son but I was so proud of him. He brought a lot of light and laughter to us when he was around. May GOD help you get through this terrible loss. Our family will never forget him.

Dear Mrs. Carter,
When I found out about Ryan's death from Ashley, it really shook me up. Ryan was a very funny person to know. I met him back in 2001 from an old friend.
