I served with Don in Vietnam with A Company 228th ASHB 1st Air Cavalry. I was a young W2 and Don taught me a lot about being a Maintenance Officer and how to Test Fly a Chinook, we had many flights together in 1970. I saw Don again at Savannah in 1978, when I was at Hunter AAF for a 2 month reserve tour, he greeted me like no time had passed between us. Don was always a gentleman and was a man to be looked up to. I am truly sorry for your families loss.

Don lived such an remarkable and honorable life. He was a son, a husband, a father, a grandfather, a soldier, a helicopter pilot... and my fathers life-long friend. I have no doubt they are in together in heaven. We will not soon for Don Stubbs; his soft, gentle spirit was testament to his genuine character and integrity. We love and miss you already Don and ask that God uniquely provide to Sally and family the peace that surpasses all understanding.

Dear Sally,
We are so sad for you and the family. Any conversation with Don always brightened our day. No matter the circumstance, he he had a smile. Whatever the need, he offered to help.

Don was a mentor to me when I was new to Chinooks. He always set a good example for others to follow. I was especially impressed that Don always stood up for the Flight Engineers and Crew Chiefs. Don was a good friend and will be missed.

Don Stubbs is my hero. A man I looked up too. I sat and had many conversations about the Military and my career in the Military. Don is truly missed. I'm saddened by this and hold the family in my heart forever.
