Randall Bart Obituary

Randall "Randy" Kerr Bart, 65, of Savannah, Georgia, died Thursday morning, August 17, 2017. Randy was husband to his beloved wife and best friend of 43 years, Barbara Davne Bart, and loving father of their two sons Daniel and Matthew. Randy was also a father figure and mentor to many, a trusted advisor, a lover of nature, a protector of the land, a sometimes farmer, and always a comedian.

Born in Lakeland, Florida, he was a son of Roger Bart and Elaine Bickford Bart of Vineyard Haven, MA. Randy was a longtime member and former member of the Board of Adjunta of Congregation Mickve Israel. He and his wife Barbara earned their B.A. and M.B.A degrees together from the University of Rochester. Randy also earned a J.D. from the University of Georgia School of Law. Randy practiced law in Savannah since 1978. He was a founding partner, along with his dear friend Paul Meyer, of Bart, Meyer & Company LLP. Randy was a past president of Hospice Savannah and founder and honorary lifetime member of the Hospice Savannah Foundation. He was also a member of the founding Board of Directors of The Marshes of Skidaway Island. Numerous community and charitable organizations also benefited from his leadership.

Randy found great joy in his family and spending time with them. He was happiest being outdoors, fishing, and enjoying days on the boat or at the farm that he built with his wife. He was a constant source of support for those he loved and their dreams. Randy also touched the lives of his many clients, who trusted Randy to guide them through both good times and bad. Randy's love, confidence, laughter, and enduring smile will be missed greatly.

He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Dr. Albert Davne.

He is survived by his wife Barbara Davne Bart; two sons, Daniel Bart and Matthew Bart (Joanna Persio); two parents, Roger Bart and Elaine Bickford Bart, one sister, Pam Pasternak (Larry); two brothers Tom (Julie) and Roger Bart; his mother-in-law, Carol Bennett Davne, nieces and nephews, and many friends.

The funeral service will be held at 10 o'clock on Sunday morning, August 20, 2017, at the graveside, Bonaventure Cemetery, conducted by Rabbi Robert W. Haas.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Congregation Mickve Israel - Post Office Box 816, Savannah, Georgia 31402-0816 or Hospice Savannah - Post Office Box #13190, Savannah, Georgia 31416-0190.

Barbara -- I am so very sorry to learn that Randy passed away. It was way too soon! I didn't see him that often because our professional paths rarely crossed, but I have only fond memories of our times together. You and your family are in my prayers.
