Virginia Beverly Obituary

Virginia Beverly, 87, of Nashville, passed away Sunday, May 13, 2018. She is predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Fred Beverly; and survived by her daughters, Kris (Thom) Elsberry and Doe (Rich) Waters; 3 grandchildren, Ben (Jenna) Elsberry, Laura Kate, and Scott Waters; 2 great granddaughters, Grace and Emma Elsberry; and 6 nieces and nephews.

Virginia received her education degree from Georgia State College for Women in Milledgeville. She spent most of her adult life in Savannah, Georgia, where she taught elementary education in the Chatham County Public Schools and completed a Master of Education at Savannah State College. She is credited with teaching hundreds of children how to read and passed on her love of reading to her students, friends, and family. Virginia was an excellent and creative seamstress and designed most of her daughters' clothes for piano recitals and high school dances. She also loved antiquing and sharing her "finds" with her family.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June 5 at 5 pm, at Glendale Baptist Church. Virginia dearly loved animals. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Nashville Humane Association, 213 Oceola Ave., Nashville, TN, 37209, nashvillehumane.org. The family would like to thank the staff at The Health Center at Richland Place, Nashville, for their friendship and care.

I worked with Virginia at Heard Ele. She was a mentor and great friend to me. When my mother died suddenly she comforted me and helped me through that very difficult time. I have thought about her often and happy to she had a full and long life. Lynn Wright
